Like Swing's 2015 list, an updated version in remembrance of those music folk who left us this year:

I started a dedicated thread yesterday on Natalie Cole.

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2126111

I included a YouTube link, but I think it's worth repeating and I'll expand on the topic.

Probably best known for her "posthumous" duets of jazz standards with her father the great Nat "King" Cole.

But she was a great blues singer in her own right.

This is one of my favourites. She had "perfect pitch" as did Sarah Vaughan.

I love how "tight" are the backing vocalists with again perfectly pitched harmonies. But if you're singing with someone with this sort of talent, it encourages you to make a good job of it.

A rather poignant song title in the circumstances.

"Leavin'"

He was married to Carla Bley, who has an equally impressive pedigree as a jazz composer, pianist, organist and bandleader..
She possibly first met him when working as a cigarette girl at Birdland.

I read yesterday that Celine's brother went right after her husband as if her husband's going wasn't enough. Cancer is what got them both too.

God bless you and her and her family always!!!

You might want to look at his relationship with his wife.

you mean there was an age gap?... he fancied 1 woman when she was 13, and married her later. he clearly loved that ONE person and stuck with her. hardly the same as blokes to targeted multiple children over many years. his love was for the person, not the age.
