I don't really want to get involved in this George Harrison plagiarism argument, but he also "borrowed" the line "something in the way she moves" from James Taylor. James was signed to Apple and, in the studio one day, George heard James playing this:

and "borrowed", but I think it was with James's permission.
Oh no...this'll just start it all off again

Alas, we've lost David Bowie. A huge loss.
I've always liked David Bowie. My heart broke a little when I found out that he'd died

For Bowie fans, an 1 hour biopic of David Bowie, mostly told in his own words and featuring many rare interviews with him during the span of his long career on BBC R4, 30th Jan at 20:00.

Just read that on FB. I knew he hadn't been in good health but still a huge shock,
One of the bands whose music was the soundtrack to my childhood and made my Musial taste what it is today

Probably the best tribute I can pay to EWF is when every time I see the 'Boogie Wonderland' video, they look like they've been there for hours, and then carry on for hours after the filming stopped.

RIP.

Wogan was another one who knew about Savile and did nothing other than drop the odd sly hint...

Just looking back at at this thread and noticed someone who hasn't been mentioned - Andy 'Thunderclap' Newman of Thunderclap Newman. Their big hit was the number one song 'Something in the Air' from 1969. He died at the end of March.

I'm shocked at hearing the news about Prince. Didn't expect that.

Unbelievable coincidental deaths of major celebrities in such a compressed time period.

But let's not forget that hundreds of thousands of "ordinary" people die every day and nobody bats an eyelid. Hopefully this shocking series of deaths will remind us all to be kinder to each other, stop worrying about bullshit and enjoy the time we have.

George Michael has joined Greg Lake this year (and Kirsty MacColl from 2000) from having had a classic Christmas hit then passed away around Christmastime some years later.
