Do you or don't answer the door if you aren't expecting anybody?

I've just had a very loud aggressive knock on my front door. I think I know who it was. It was the TV License goons as I don't watch live television or have a license. That's not the main issue though, as threads have been done about that already.

I'm not very well today, I have a tummy bug so I am having a 'lazy' day resting up and not feeling too great. Unless I am expecting somebody, I never answer the door. I have all of my lights off regardless, so it looks as if the house is empty. I am in bed listening to an audio book.

Are there other people out there who simply refuse to answer the door if they are not expecting anybody or a delivery? The reason I think it was the TVL goons was because the knock wasn't a 'normal' knock, it was very loud and more of a bang on the door rather than a knock and they persisted for a few minutes. They've knocked before and get ignored as do all of their threat-o-grams.

However I am wondering if other people are like me and if you don't know who it is, you simply ignore it?

When someone knocks on my door, all my 3 dogs bark, I hold the biggest one when opening the door, and people seem to step back, lol
But I normally respond when someone knocks, unless ill.

I do now that I live in Corfu because theres no cold callers, tin rattling beggars, tv licence thugs or preachers here. if anyone knocks, it will be a friend or neighbour. when I lived in uk, I refused to answer the door to anyone I wasn't expecting except the post man.. I also made a good show of looking out of the window to see who was there, then walking away. I could see all along my road and generally, any door knocker would move onto the next house so I knew they were after something
