Maybe he wanted Dean to be dead because he felt so betrayed by him.

Good old Buster. Unconditional fatherly love one minute, calling his son scum and celebrating his death the next.

It does surprise me how quickly one can switch from love/caring to hatred just like that - I've never been able to do that which is why I can relate more to Denise's reaction(shocked and saddened but not raging)

That made me laugh- he made no effort!

People online have mocked Danny's attempts at CPR but if you've done the training you should be aware that enacting it too realistically on a person who isn't in real danger can result in them being injured so it probably looked ineffective so Matt was not put at risk.

That's what I thought too. Yes it looked a bit funny but like you say, safety comes first.

Buster acted like a lot of his type would act, it's easier to deal with his son being dead than being a convicted rapist.

In defence of Dyer's CPR, is everyone a H&S expert? Do we all here know proper CPR? I'd hazard a guess that very few do so it's not a stretch to assume Mick Carter doesn't either. But we've all see Casualty, I imagine Mick has too, so with the adrenalin pumping he decided to give it a go. It's just a shame it actually worked!

He hasn't really been a father to Dean or Mick, he was in jail or absent most of their lives. Total opportunist, and not sure why he's such a popular character. I actually preferred Shirley with Phil!

I wish they hadn't made Buster Mick's dad.

I quite like Buster. While it's true that Kevin and Stan brought up Mick and Dean, Buster did make an effort later on when he regained his freedom from prison.

I've been told for CPR that if you're doing it properly you'll break a rib. They'll probably vomit too so you always have to enact clearing the airway on a dummy before recommencing compressions (or the times I've been examined on it).

Lots of times it won't work but it's just about giving someone a chance till paramedics arrive.

Thankfully I've only ever had to do it on a dummy.

I have done basic CPR training & yes-breaking a rib or something else IS a risk when doing CPR on a person so I suspect Danny Dyer was advised not to do it TOO realistically.
It's just I saw mocking comments on his technique being discussed online after the ep & I felt the need to point out that doing a real life type CPR was probably not for the best.

All actors can do is pretend, you'd hurt someone if you did it unnecessarily.

That's very interesting to hear, Boddism and Auds. Thanks for your info on CPR, guys . It's not every day you learn something new on a soap forum .

Well, I'm off to test my CPR technique on my annoying little brother and break some of his ribs in the process.

Oh, I was kidding, Whiskyrum. I do agree with you actually. I don't think Buster is cold-hearted like that. As you say, he was upset by Dean's death as much as anyone else.

I actually thought Buster didn't seem too fussed that Dean appeared to be dead. There was just pure acceptance of the fact without even checking, so I assume he thought that was for the best. Might be interesting to see if Shirley picked up on that, but I'd also say Dean was dead to Buster already.
