I agree have scoured the listings but can't find a repeat anywhere!! I have virgin but when I record several things at various times overlapping the ending sometimes gets cut off-quite annoying!!!

I really, really want this to be good, or at least adequate. Passable.
I've heard that the soundtrack is supposed to be good, and that it's less oppressive and somber in tone than the Lives of Others, the film dealing with the same period and comparable themes. |

I'm sorry but the fact that this is German with English subtitles will unfortunately mean this will bomb.

I there still that much anti-German feeling in Britain ? Everybody watches Scandinavian and French subtitled dramas without complaint. The language is more gutteral, that is true, but hardly off putting.
Come on people, the War is over, move on. |

Das Boot was a success many years ago so I don't think it is that. Is it?

I'm looking forward to this so will be watching. Bit of a clash tonight though with three dramas on. Endevour, War and Peace, and this. If I watch all three tonight, it'll be midnight which is a tad late as have to be up for work tomorrow morning! So will watch Endevour, then Deutchland '83. War and Peace will have to wait till tomorrow night!

It is good and they use a lot of contemporary songs from the period, stuff like Nena (99 Luftballons), Joy Division and New Order.

It's got subtitles.
My German language crash course was totally unnecessary. ![]()

Subtitles don't match what they're saying....."Sit Down" not "Take a Seat"

Ah, so that'll be the reason he cant play piano.
Suspect some of this will be preposterous, it's almost played as a comedy, but will get sucked in by its depiction of the eighties. |

Fair enjoying this so far, not as far-fetched or as ridiculous as the last Series of the Bridge.

Top marks for having Peter Schilling's classic Major Tom as the theme.

First episode in and I say it's definitely got potential so I'll be sticking with it for the time being. I agree with the above though that subtitles + German = flop.

Very interesting to see East Germany depicted in 1983, not somewhere we'd be used to seeing on screen.
