I only just got round to watching the Christmas Day episode last night.
After about 15 minutes I was getting so bored I decided to fast view through the rest of the episode, up to the point that the Doctor and River Song were on some sort of balcony overlooking the Singing Towers.
Even then I just didn't 'get it'. I seem to recall from an earlier series that River Song is either Doctor Who's wife (unlikely) or maybe she's his mother (that too would be strange), but I couldn't really understand who she was or what she was doing there - a sentiment exacerbated by the fact that I didn't much care for the character.
I've thoroughly enjoyed Doctor Who since I first revisited it at around the time that the little red haired girl first appeared - and that includes the Christmas editions that always had some relevance and continuity with the series at the time.
Christmas 2015 Doctor Who was thoroughly odd (the edition that took place on the train in the sky was probably my favourite seasonal offering) and I'm wondering if it's really going to be worth continuing to watch it when the new series - presumably with a new companion - starts up sometime this year.
