Darcey has said that she needs an hip operation, I it goes ok and that she gets better as soon as possible.

Dancing at that level must take it out on your body, in a similar way that top flight athletes often have problems in later life.

Good luck and a speedy recovery to her

Sarah, it might be wise to post all these "news" threads in the news thread you made rather than posting them all individually again (so as to avoid them all being moved/locked/merged and getting you upset again)

Here's the link to your thread http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2102164

The article states that she says she may need a hip replacement at some time in the future. It isn't imminent. I had one six years ago. I was back playing golf seven weeks after the replacement, so it isn't a big deal these days, unless you're quite old.
Lots of people have them.
As she no longer dances professionally, it won't make that much difference to her, you can see it isn't affecting her at the moment when she "flounces on," with the rest of the judges, at the beginning of Strictly, though those who need it done fairly soon will tell you that it presently causes them a lot of discomfort.

She mentioned possible new alternatives. One alternative is having the joint refaced, It's not new, I think the Australian tennis player Lleyton Hewitt had something like that done and then returned to competition.
