So I've been looking for a decent data roaming deal due to my pending move from Three to EE...

Came across this on the PC World website:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/phones...36844-pdt.html

And with some googling found this:
https://knowhow-mbb.com

Seems like a good deal, 3GB for £9.99 per month or 6GB for £15.99 and it can be used in numerous locations:

Austria
Belgium
Croatia
Cyprus
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hong Kong
Iceland
Ireland
Italy
Luxembourg
Malta
Monaco
Netherlands
Norway
Portugal
Poland
Spain
Sweden
UK

Has anyone tried it out? Seems like a pretty good deal. Think I'll sign up this week because I'm off to the Netherlands and France in the next month so a good opportunity to test it out.

Cheers.

It uses 3 in the UK, so considering your leaving them, it might not be the best idea unless it's purely for abroard. You could also come under Feel at Home though, which from everything i've seen on here about it makes 3 very hard to use abroard without a vpn.

If this doesn't bother you then it should be fine, but otherwise i'd look elsewhere.

I'll use it a little at home but not much.

I used Feel at Home a few times and although it was never especially fast it was v useful, hence me looking for a replacement. It's about the only thing I'll miss from Three (along with the price!) Luckily for me though, my work will pick up the cost of basic mobile broadband (up to £10 per month) so it won't cost anything to try it out.

In that case then it should be fine if you found feel at home was good for you when you used it previously. If 3 is also good on 3G in your area as well then try it.

But also if your work is covering the cost, you could probably get a 4G one from EE, but it would cost more and would also cost to use abroard, but would be significantly better both in and out of the UK.

Sadly they'll only pay £10 a month (it's for basic usage to connect to the office to do simple admin tasks when on site at customers) so this looks ideal. I'll give it a go, not much to lose really.

Quick follow up on this...

I received the SIM yesterday. All up and running OK in my iPad. It's clearly running on the 3 Network in the UK. Did a speed test with 2 bars of 4G: about 15Mbps down and 5Mbps up - pretty happy with that. Off to France in a couple of weeks so will try it out there...

Yes it does. On my iPad it shows the Personal Hotspot section in settings and it works fine. I was surprised to be honest...

Does it allow access to 800 and VoLTE? I assume not. Not that anyone can actually use it anyway!

On the same website (PC World) three’s mobile broadband PAYG sim is 7.99 per month for 1GB of data which is far better value than their All In One 10 mobile phone PAYG package which only offers a max of a pitiful 500MB of data.

And what’s more is you can use the mobile broadband sim in your mobile phone anyway.

Doubt forget you don't get any minutes/texts with mobile broadband though, although this seems less important these days...!
