New game show with Sue Perkins. Did anyone else watch this? I did, although through the haze of a migraine which maybe clouded my judgement which is ... this show is pants

I sort of enjoyed it ............but am divided as to whether it was just the enjoyment of awkwardness

You get Josh, Rob, Sue, Roisin on a panel game you're going to get some laughs. But there was a lot of awkwardness as Sue tried to jolly it along and none of the panellists seemed to have a clue what was going on........

I'll definitely carry on watching though

Derivative beyond belief. Despite the presence of several comedians who 'give good panel' it felt tired and unimaginative - the sort of thing that Dave might commission.

It was a case of 'the usual suspect' comedians trying for laughs with the historian treating it like a real quiz. The snippet about danger involved in making The Wizard of Oz was interesting, though most of the questions were fairly simple. I'll watch it again if I'm around at that time, with nothing else on offer..

I don't think it's there for it's quizzing ability. The questions were easy but I assume it's supposed to be a base for the comedians to riff from like on QI.

It did seem like Dave or BBC3.
I haven't looked it up yet but I wonder if Osman was involved behind the scenes and that's how he got it on to BBC2.

I watched it on iPlayer. It did seem rather confusing at first. I had no idea on what was going on, or whose go it was. I think the contestants had no idea either. I really felt sorry for Kate Williams, who I think was kind of out of her depth in this programme. She knew the answers, but didn't realise that it would be like QI where the contestants have to give funny answers before giving the correct ones.

What a truly awful and pointless show.

Let's find out who the most famous person called Frank is. Oh and just in case that's not pointless enough, let's also include people who aren't called Frank.

Still I suppose it's an outlet for those right-on comedians who aren't funny enough to survive on Mock The Week or HIGNFY.

Is it me or does every TV show currently contain at least one of Sue or Mel in sound and/or vision these days?

I can't see how seeing as though Josh and Rob are MtW regulars and Roisin is a HIGNFY series regular.

I'm going to see an episode being recorded next week. Luckily, I thought it was very entertaining (I've seen a lot worse being recorded!).

BIB I felt for her too, especially when Sue kept banging on at her. It got a bit embarrassing for Kate W I think. Given that she is a serious historian and not known for being funny, she would have been within her rights to eventually say "don't f*cking book me on your show then".

As for the show I thought it was OK but was not sure what it was trying to be. Maybe they should have a serious person and a comedian on each team. Then also another captain like Richard who is smart and witty so can straddle the twin aims of quizzing and humour. It would also help if they could get funnier comedians. Obviously that is subjective but I find Rob, and to a lesser extent Roisin and Josh, pretty average. They also are not specifically witty enough to play with the questions or answers. They just seemed to be trotting out the usual stuff they do on every show. It didn't help that Sue kept saying they are supposed to be saying funny comments (to the historian) because that only emphasized how forced and lame many of the gags were.

If they can clarify over time what the point of the show is (funny panel show with quiz gimmick or quiz show with whimsy and humour or something else) it has potential. I will give it another go and see how it develops.

A very derivative show that would benefit tremendously from
having a decent presenter, instead of the permanently posturing
Perkins and her lame 'jokes'.
Why was Richard Osman there, because he did nothing that I was
aware of throughout! Otherwise, late night stuff, probably best on
Dave as has been mentioned!

Twas OK. Seen worse. Seen much better.

It did seem like they'd run out of 'good' panel show ideas so had moved on to making the second rate ones instead.

And it suffered from a very poor 'cast'.

I saw an episode being recorded at Pinewood studios yesterday. I can honestly say Richard Osman was the funniest, wittiest and knowledgeable person on either team (or the host).

Again they included one non comedian for some reason, and again, it killed several ad-lib conversations that might have gone somewhere funny. The recording took over 3 hours, and I'm sure they'll find 30 minutes of usable material, but compared to a recording of "Would I lie to you?" which I saw a while ago, the source material the editors are working with is very weak.

There must be something wrong with your Tv. There are hundreds of other programs in that timeslot.

I only watched it because Alice Roberts and Lucy Porter were on it. Other than that, I'll not bother again.

I am not impressed with it but watched some of the first two programmes. I thought the non-comedians saved the programmes. Far too many panel shows with the same bunch of alleged 'comedians' on the panels. Though Kate William had a hard time, the alleged 'comedians' seemed to think it hilarious that she was cleverer than them and knew more.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the non comedian was someone I like and I have watched many programs with them in, but their presence added little to the show.

Maybe the edit will save them, and the few pearls of wisdom their shared will appear like a reasonable contribution, but based on the live session, they were a waste of a chair.

I've been enjoying the series.

I wonder though if it's stuck between demographics. I keep thinking that it could be a decent panel/parlour game suited to BBC4 but it also seems to be wanting to be looking to the BBC3 crowd and ended up on BBC2 being a bit inbetween.

Agreed, it was the best so far. Maybe they should have broadcast Kate first to build an audience rather than lead with a weaker episode?

The second one was so much better than the first one. I will watch the third one on iPlayer later on. I have a feeling that it won't be renewed.

At least the BBC took a risk to try this. I have to say Well done to the BBC for trying something different.
