Well done Henrik ........... and a mention for Phil, as ever a wonderful competitor and great to see him congratulate the winner so warmly, when he had every right to rue his own misfortune, to run into Stenson playing a blinder.

Nothing will ever touch the Ryder cup 2012 for golf excitement

After last years Open which was won by Zach Johnson I remember having a chat with a couple of mates and also googling 'Who are the best players to have yet won a major'
The top three were Day, Dustin Johnson and Stenson. and amazingly they all have won a major now.

Leaves Westwood and Garcia I suppose but I just don't see it ever happening for those two.

Sky will go on, and on, and on, and on about this, and they have said it all once already.

This victorious US civil war anthem type music is also wearing thin.

We've welcomed the 'champion golfer' once ....... why say it again?

The presentation gets more tedious as the years go on.
That is the green light for the winner to go and show the trophy to the crowd.

True they both have been very close, The Americans probably think that Fowler will win one soon. Wouldn't be surprised if he does.

I think they used the same music for the Masters and the US Open

What are the odds on the music being used for the USPGA Championship

Also how many ad breaks have we had today, it must be about a thousand so far

Interestingly just read one of those top 10 lists that was compiled after last year's majors and it said that if Stenson was going to win one it would probably be The Open.

One of my mates has bet Stenson in every major for years but speaking to him on Friday and telling him how good his stats were for the first 2 days he had given up on him ... typical.

There is still time for Westwood and Garcia to win a major, as they have been players over the last few years who won majors way over their forties and Stenson and Mickelson were the only players who had a chance of winning today and they are forty

Well you can't quite give up on Garcia and Westwood, there was a time everyone thought the best not to win a major would be Tom Kite who eventually won at 43. Ironically that was the first one Montgomerie challenged at, who certainly will never win one. If the weather hadn't calmed down, Kite may still have the distinction, and Montgomerie have won early.

Anyway well done Stenson, a deserved winner, and Lefty remains level with Seve and behind Faldo.

There was a good short interview with him on the radio. Now the BBC is only doing highlights surely they can cut out most of the 'Ken on the course' filler.

I still think Monty is the greatest never to win a major. Will never forget that approach on the 18th in the US Open when he changed club and put it in the bunker

Nah, I don't like Garcia, but his record is better than Montys IMHO.

Do you still think the Duel of the Sun between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus was better than Mickelson and Stenson today

I didn't watch golf then I was too young, think the 83 open was the first one I remember watching but I don't enjoy matchplay styles duels with the rest of the field out of contention.

What did sky call today battle in the breeze or something ridiculous

Would have been good to see. Much less interesting to just read about.

Like many sports it's just a "so what" moment now.

Attendance figures released by R+A and they were lower than 2004 Open at the same venue though larger than R+A expected.

They have 2 hours to show the best of the day, the top two yesterday finished a country mile ahead of the field and shot 63 and 65. What do you exactly want them to be showing?

They were hardly going to show Monty hacking around the course for 2 hours, were they?

Jack Nicklaus on ABC even congratualted Monty on becoming the new US Open Champion too. The one Kite won late on when the wind died.
