Another poor start for McIlroy in a Major.

Four over after twelve holes and tied 67th out of the 78 morning starters.

Red button on Sky Sports 4.

As the saying goes, you can't win a Major on Day 1 but you can lose one

Watching the women's golf at Woburn on BBC 2 today. I picked up on a comment by Peter Allis.

I've always recommended to newcomers to the game, to watch women's golf on TV, as an example of how it's all about the swing and the timing.

Some of the small Chinese/Korean girls who are five foot-nothing and less than eight stone could drive their tee shots 250yds plus.
But he noticed as I did some of the women are becoming more like the men in the way that they attack the tee shot with a driver.

I'm getting bored of the constant power involved in many men's games, so I too rather prefer watching slight women actually using skills to get around the course rather than just brutalise it. I think my fave golfer at the moment of any sex is Lydia Ko, shame she was awful today.

I don't mind power per se, but just feel in tennis, cricket and golf in particular, if you are just very physical you can hit great shots without actually getting it that close to the sweet spot, because the technology helps you so much. Wasn't the case before.

Looks like play might be possibly interrupted. Skies darkening and some weather around I think

McIlroy attempting to do the same. Two birdies in three holes and he's back to +2.

Well too often Mcilroy is taking himself out of tournaments with one poor round - this course and conditions were absolutely set up for his game.

I can't help thinking if conditions stay as they are then this is Stenson's to lose once again as I don't see him shooting any less than -6 over the weekend and he has played on the worst side of the draw by far.

Jason Day's injured golfer act is becoming a bit tiresome now though ..

Rory has lost it big time. Cant see him ever winning another major the way he is playing.

Incredible over-reaction. Amazing stat for him though

1st in strokes gained: off the tee
151st in strokes gained: putting
I do genuinely wonder if the way he's bulked up has had a detrimental effect on this feel around the greens now. It should be looked at I think.

There is a long way to go for him but a couple of years ago there was talk of Woods style success in majors but Mclroy doesn't seem to have consistency in his game(either brilliant or bust), and maybe there are also too many other players who do.

It just shows what a couple if years does two years ago people were talking about 20-25 majors for him.

If he got to double figure I would be amazed

Has Women Golf made a mistake?
Reading the posts here about ( an event on Sky),
Will Sky just lose the Womens Open on Sky Sports 4, of something, with Cricket. Mens Golf etc on Sports 1 or 2.

The Womens Open, needs to be FTA, or I fear it will be lost amid other mote popular sports.

The PGA is fast becoming my favourite Major championship as nearly every year, any player from ten shots back can still win it

There was a 72 hole playoff at the 1931 US Open. Two extra days, 36 holes per day.

Seem to remember they've had issues like this before at the PGA due to the time of year its played.

Might given an advantage to those who have already finished their 3rd round?

The BBC are to be commended for the extensive coverage of the Women's Open at Woburn.

But does no one who puts sports information on the "Red Button," work at the week-ends?
It's still showing only the round 2 leader board!

Worth watching the Women's Golf just to be within earshot when Peter Alliss makes a sexist/racist boo boo, or a unintentional faux pas regarding the young Korean who needs a good length .

Oooh, she's a hefty lass, crack walnuts with them thighs.
