It never seems to get bad weather too often when the open has been there which helps , interesting that level par is way down in 60th place at the moment.

The likes of kjelson has finished strongly but we didn't see any of that, if the weather is poorer tomorrow lets see how things change.
Yes I was disappointed in the lack of coverage.

Fairly mixed scoring early on..

Willet on + 4 for example but Spieth -3

The third round always needs someone to make charge early on

What is Mcilroy leading the charge towards though.

He is fourth in the world but certainly doesn't win as much as he should.

If he gets to double figures in majors I would be astounded.

I will go as far to say he is a very good player but he isn't going to get any better

McIlroy's career major total will depend on how long his shop window is.

For example Tiger Woods had won ALL of his majors by age 32, then by mid 30s his body began to pack in due to the aggressive nature of his swing and it looks like despite the colossal number of majors he has, 32 was the age he finished winning majors. Crazy.

Yet Mickelson on the other is still winning/competing for majors at 46! Didn't win his first one till 33/34.

People who follow Golf more than I do say McIlroy's swing, like Woods, in later years will cause him problems unless he's completely elastic. He's a massive hitter but only 5'8.

If runs into injury problems mid 30s onwards his window of opportunity will be shorter, he would be doing well to win 10+ majors.

However if he's still a major competitor by 46, then he may get 15+/challenge Nicklaus as some have predicted.

Poor start indeed from Mcilroy indeed even at this stage fairly sure that's his chances of winning probably gone.

Suspect we will still see every shot though.

Crowds don't seem to have picked up much although another rail strike again

It all seems so flat and it doesn't look like it will get much better over weekend.

Is it the poor crowds maybe , wrong people on the leaderboard.

Can't place what it is but it doesn't feel like event tv the way the open should

Stenson has played great all tournament but has just made 3 mental errors in a row - 2 drivers that were not needed has seen him on the back foot on 2 of the easiest holes on the course and coming up short with a 100 foot tee-shot at the postage stamp.

Needs to start playing a bit smarter than that if he wants to keep in touch with Phil ...

You are right and for me the reason is that it is on Sky and not terrestrial tv.

Golf and cricket are good value for pay TV. As padding.

Real mix bag in terms of scores but the top 2 look pretty comfortable.

It's fine for those who can afford sky but what about those who can't.

I would like to stentson win as he has given a lot to golf without getting a major so far.

To be fair it's not sky's fault that's it's not one of the more memorable opens in recent years

Loving the rise of "Beef" this championship - he is a fly in the ointment for those that think you have to be a poe-faced athlete to compete in the modern game.

Hopefully he has a good finish tomorrow and he may have his Sunday name on the claret jug ...

Would prefer a Henrik Stenson win, about time he won a major, plus think he deserves it

If Phil Mickelson wins the Open he will become the oldest major winner for over a hundred years beating Jack Nicklaus modern day record set at the Masters thirty years ago

Also during this years championship, he made history for the first time by leading after three rounds of a major which he has surprisingly never done

Have to say, the sky coverage of the open has been poor, lots of golf going on on the course, but all we get is a load of old waffle......

Totally agree

Have tried to watch but end up back at the cricket these last 2 days

Thinking about it, everytime an advert comes on , I switch channels. Maybe that's the difference
