Not suggesting she would have been but the tabloids (and SCD producers) might have been keen to run a suggestive storyline, which would not have suited Gleb because, like you, I think he wanted to be taken seriously and not treated as eye candy. This is why I think he was reserved to begin with as he was not keen on fulfilling that role. Of course the flirting with Mel was harmless; my point was that we got to see this side of Gleb on tour and perhaps this will works its way into the show now, which would please Vodka and me

BiB: And me. I'd like to see him with a partner with whom he could be playfully flirty--but where it's clear it's just fun on both sides--rather than with an available pretty young thing.

In other news .... I was actually heartened to see their Shanghai Buick gig. Seems to me that's a quite a big deal in terms of pay and prestige, as compared to charity shows or master classes. I'm quite impressed at their being able to pull in things like that. Professional ballroom dancing is quite low in the entertainment business pecking order, so good on them for being able to make a living at it.

Hopefully they'll get more established in the UK/Europe and will have more visibility here in future.

I have only watched SCD with the wife virtually as Anita and Gleb went out.Sinead was upset and I couldn't understand why or who would be the cause of that

And as I said previously I did get very suspicious about A and G.I believe a lot of Americans have commented on it too but obviously there were lines that were not crossed .

Now that I know more about this couple, I am not sure his wife would take too kindly to any untoward flirting and why should she.The stuff with Mel made very good viewing.More of a comedy act than anything and with Anita its like acting in a romantic film.Quite gripping.Certain women suit him more than others and I believe his wife and Anita do look good with him although they are poles apart in height and looks.

Is it normal to have a flirty couple on SCD or is it just Gleb that you think may suit this "role"

They would have been very well paid in Shanghai .China is mega rich.High end event.
Now they need Bold and SCD to do better for them so they can cut out at least some of this flying around. I would suggest they change BOLD for someone better . They are now in HK on the way to Sydney I assume.

Yes, I agree with that. I was thinking Gleb and Helen would have made a good couple physically but not so much personality wise. I said this during the show and I still think that Anita wouldn't have made it to the semis with anyone else other than Gleb. I know it's easy to say in hindsight but there was a real spark between them and Anita was up for anything Gleb offered choreography wise. There are a couple of dances where the sparks literally flew, namely the AT (right at the end of the dance - PURE passion) and the PD (I'll always remember Gleb's "Stay!"

). I think the perfect partner for Gleb is someone who's got plenty of punch about them. And that's how I'd describe Anita - very "punchy" and utterly fierce. Gleb's a real artist on the dance floor - he likes to create something of a show stopper and be as innovative as constraints allow (and sometimes just saying "blow the rules" and doing what he wants anyway

), so whoever he's partnered with has to be ready to embrace that IMO.

Good job they were in a studio is all I will say there

I think for me and my mates....we saw a lot of really nice interaction btw these two Behind the Scenes,In Training and the Goodbye clips that made us want to be Anita.....

I think Helen was probably second choice after Anita . Its really difficult to find a matching goodlooking woman to dance with Gleb apart from maybe Elena comes closest or somebody like Irina Shayhk.Nobody we have here compares and that includes Laura Whitmore and Helen .Whoever he does dance with in future will still be behind Anita and his wife Elena.They are very different but both look nice with him.

Of course there were important differences that may have made the flirting possible. And of course, wish fulfilment on my part - see naughty, flirty Gleb. Everything about their AT sizzled. Gleb telling Anita to "stay" put me in mind of bondage, which was implied in their AT and, to a lesser extent, the Maleficent waltz.

Hi Melissa, it was after the music and dance had finished, as Anita was going to rise from the floor. If there's a version on YT with the results included you will hear him, just about, say this. It won't be in the short, dance only version.

oh Maggie.....that was such a scene...flirty doesn't come close to describe it ....coming over quite lightheaded

I loved that sequence.The way they danced in the dance studio and he is telling her what to do and just before he asked her that.....she is hitched up with her arm round his shoulder.....don't recall seeing that in the final AT do you ?

Yes please do when you have the time because that's one I've missed.

Well Ian is gay so the dynamic is different BUT when Ian was with Jade, for example, he was sexier and I think that was because of their chemistry. She was a very strong competitive woman who was tough to work with and there was an edge in their relationship that developed into great on-floor chemistry with a flirtatiousness.

choucroute, so sorry I forgot to include you! Hello again. Thanks for the news about their Shanghai gig. I've written it before but it's worth reiterating, this couple work really hard and I admire them tremendously for their energy and zeal. It is features like this that make Gleb such a firm favourite. He strives as a dancer and choreographer. I really hope he gets a decent partner who will make the most of the hard work and inventiveness he brings. Same for Elena if (when?) she joins SCD.

I believe Gleb's explanation about the "Stay"--he wanted her to stay in character for a moment before breaking the spell of the dance. And all the dancers are counting and giving commands under their breaths to their celebs during the dances, so that fits right in. (Not to deny the dark undertone of those dances--it's definitely there.)

I'm curious where his or their next long-haul flight will take them

Hello Maggie...you will have to excuse me re: flirting ! I understand where you are coming from now . To me that is teasing with someone you feel very comfortable with . Someone who will not take it the wrong way so again......they had to have had the chemistry to do that. There was trust there and understanding . Say that to any other woman and likely a man would get a good whooping as the Americans say. A and G had chemistry,trust and understanding but limits so this was ok .

I totally agree with you regarding their work ethic. The man has been picked apart over here but that little family keeps smiling and working.Flying all over the place .Said it plenty of times.He needs a better deal so he can settle his family....you can tell that is what they both want .

I think its the off dance footage that makes you realise how well Gleb and Anita got on so yes I agree with what you say and Josh H says.There is tremendous trust,understanding and closeness but with borders.He is more reserved than her.She just says what she feels in case she never gets the chance again and actually....to heck with convention....she said it live,to the camera,to his face ,seen by millions.My mom says she is lucky she still had a husband to go home to.Having said that.....nothing untoward did happened .But Gleb is completely mesmerising so can't really blame her.And can't blame Elena for beating the crap out of anybody attempting to come close.I would if I had Gleb.......xx

I also have a soft spot for the Gleb "Boom!", and the little strip tease he did after the samba, which sent Claudia into a meltdown

Sure this show was lucrative.The wife Elena has responded to someone indicating she and Gleb are doing a show in the UK in July.So before SCD....? Wonder if that is why they came a few weeks ago and obviously SCD.She is still "liking" any suggestions alluding to it.So in effect Gleb has paved the way for her in the UK.

That is why I think he was really serious this time in wanting to make a mark and he was lucky he was paired with Anita who was going at full speed with him.

Not that he wasn't serious before.He wasn't paired correctly.

It's the 24th April today, and it was on this day last year that we found out the 2015 pro line up. I hope we hear soon, but it has been much later than that in previous years. If you read the main forum you'll know that Natalie has confirmed she's returning during a Q&A session last night, interstingly she's been signed for two series instead of one. I don't know if this is because she is now a veteran and they want to keep some continuity? But I am interested in finding out if that extends to all pro's, or just her?

Good news about Natalie IMO. I do like her. I keep hoping to find some confirmation on Gleb (and hopefully Elena) but it looks like we'll have to be a little more patient. Not that I doubt he'll be back, but it would be nice to get something set in stone!

All of there pro's seem to have gone quiet on Twitter/Instagram. Karen posted a photo of Kevin and herself yesterday and it's the first time either of them have put anything on there for a while. Alijaz and Janette are also very quiet, they seem to travel about the world just as much as Gleb and Elena do.

I suppose until the build up starts there's very little for any of them to post.

Saw from the thread downstairs that we may find out about the pros this coming week. Hope so and that the government's latest menacing of the BBC doesn't spoil plans to reveal.

I wonder how pro dancers manage their working and personal lives when they have lucrative, short-lived contracts like SCD. It must rule out quite a few other opportunities.
