I agree Melissa. He was a real hit and I'm sure lots of people will be hoping for his return. I think even casual viewers would miss him.

Yes I'm wondering about the connection with Arlene and if that means Gleb has another project because he is not continuing with SCD. I'll be very sad but given his track record, of using these competitions to find other work, perhaps not surprised.

I was wondering about whether or not Gleb would feature this evening as there are 20 celeb contestants. I'll watch anyway because I like MC and John Torode Wish John could be persuaded to do SCD.

Re-child care, well Gleb may do more than Elena but the grandparents seem to do a lot too. But as he seems to have a lovely relationship with his daughter then it would make sense they are close from frequent company with one another.

Well I've scoured Arlene's twitter and the only thing I can see her involved in is a musical called 27 running from September to October about deceased music stars. Doesn't seem like something Gleb would feature in unless he can sing and hasn't told us!

Maggie - the names of tonight's contestants were in my TV magazine and Gleb wasn't mentioned. Ooh, it's just started!

The taxation thing was nonsense, because the tax year always ends in March and the new one begins in April. So we are now in the new tax year (if that makes sense?)

I am confused about Gleb and SCD.He obviously is interested in being in the UK .I think Maggie that its not so much that he never sticks in the same place for long....its more like he never had such a good partner as Anita so didn't go so far.That meant that he was not seen to his best advantage .In the Oz SCD I believe he was paired with a MIss World .Eliminated in round one .The USA....eliminated in round 5.The celebrity needs to deliver too.Here Gleb and Anita went far...both very likeable....him being stunning so we got to know more about him.So I think he made SCD interesting.
I think he and his wife want to be here together financially as well as a family............................so still hoping this happens otherwise SCD....on your bike

I don't think that Gleb doesn't stick around so much, as I was always under the impression that it was DWTS that dropped him. He did one season with a duffer celebrity, then the following series he was relegated to their troupe. On the Russian version he had a ringer and came runner up, but it's not very democratic and the judges actually decide the winner there.

backstageone has been both right and very wrong with their 'insider gossip', and I think when they have been correct its been a lucky guess. He recently claimed a dancer called Korina Travis could be joining Strictly, but she is only very young ( very early 20's) and is just starting to make waves in the world of competitions, so that's unlikely.

The only person on DS who truly has inside information is bendmixer, as she is a ballroom teacher and knows the Clifton family etc. She said right at the start of the year that she knew of two male pro's who had been asked to audition, she also told us that the first auditions were much later than usual this year which is why the line up has been delayed.

Either way backstageone has caused a mass panic on here, the Pasha thread and the Giovanni thread. Part of me wonders of that was the whole point? If he is right, really it could be any of them and I'm guessing it's more likely they have been dropped by prdocuers rather than chosen to leave themselves, I think a lot of it depends on if they have a celebrity in mind who will look good with them. Remember last year Joanne didn't even have a partner.

I agree about hygiene in MC. My mum worked in kitchens and said short, unpainted nails, no jewellery and hair not only tied back well but preferably in a cap was appropriate. As was washing hands frequently and using nail brushes whilst washing etc. I cringe when I see the hands, in particular, of some contestants! Anyway, I'm hoping Gleb turns up sooner rather than later. Need a fix.


Perhaps I'm being unfair by suggesting he doesn't stay anywhere for long. It's an impression I gained that may not represent him well. He quit DWTS I think because of his affair and Elena leaving with Olivia to return to Russia. Their separations for work must contribute to regular moves and I would love/hope that they might settle a bit with work in the UK - especially if Elena joins SCD - and life between Russia and Hong Kong. Or they could relocate Olivia's education to the UK, which would be much better.

Perhaps Melissa is right too that Gleb was given a decent contender on UK SCD and he has been embraced by the British (female) public. Why do Americans prefer Derek Hough?!? If we have any American contributors to the thread I'd be intrigued to hear their views on this perception of mine! I am coming to Vodka's view about backstageone as well. I dislike the tactic of using their knowledge to tantalise members of the forum. If they are willing to be say there's a shock in store then they should reveal more, other remain quiet as they claim they were asked to be.

Yes, actually he could have left DWTS because of the alleged affair. I'd forgotten about that, I just recalled last year someone saying he'd been treated badly on DWTS. The woman he's supposed to have cheated with isn't one of the DWTS pro's as widely believed though, she's an actress and dancer who was in Coyote Ugly. Although it's still up in the air whether or not an affair happened, Elena certainly thought something was going on and went berserk at them both on Twitter.

I don't think Gleb was treated that well, as a second to dancers whose appear I don't understand, which is why an alternative input might be good. Same goes for Artem. I think it's taken as true that Gleb had an affair. I think it's a stereotype, though might be true also, that Russian women are fierce!

Personally I think the wife is very nice looking. I think after Lisa Vanderpump ,he was in the backup dancers so not ideal and Elena went to India on their SCD and this is when something is supposed to have happened.

The 3 rd party posted very cryptic stuff which would goad any woman .Reading btw the lines he withdrew himself very fast bcuz she says something like....." if you never get the chance again........remember to hug the one you love........" and the following Valentines she posted again to "you know who you are "

So I think that it may have been more one sided because he was on the plane to Moscow pretty sharpish .So no the SCD is not bcuz of a person more bcuz of the dance partners not coming up to scratch and him being out before coming to our attention.

Hey guys. I'm starting to get a little desperate for some kind of news now I'd still be REALLY shocked if he wasn't back.

The impression I get with Gleb is that preferably he would have liked to have been a big hit in America, but that didn't really happen so the UK is the next best thing. His profile rocketed pretty quickly here last year and I get the feeling he enjoys the celebrity status and lifestyle. I may be way off the mark there but that's my rather simplistic view of Gleb's career outlook. That's why I'd be shocked if he wasn't back as it's a pretty good gig to turn down and I can't believe the producers wouldn't have asked him back. He's TV gold

Just seen on Twitter that Gleb is now on his way over to Hong Kong. Not even been in the UK a week! In that times he's managed to pack in a haircut, a meeting with Arlene Phillips, a photo shoot and a meeting with his manager.

Really upset that Gleb is not doing SCD but it means that I will NOT be watching so that is that .Neither will my family and friends....he was the only reason but I will follow him of course. I think he was offered the contract but she wasn't so that would mean they would be apart for a long period of time and that is why he turned it down.I could see that before and thats why,I wanted the wife to be offered a contract too.

I think that Elena was not offered a contract and that made the difference. I'm certain Gleb would have returned otherwise. Oh b***eration!
