Just checked the MF and backstageone's comment. Did he try and manipulate to get Elena onboard as a pro? Did she not want to do it and beeb said it had to be a couple? Were they angling for a particular couple and sacrificed Gleb for the male? Did Gleb pee off costume department too much? I know that backstageone made some remarks about the size of the pros' egos as well as celebs' - had Gleb got out of control? So disappointing and even more so that the BBC let him go. What's wrong with them? Just because he was better looking than Greg the floor manager, only marginally more good looking though!

I'm not entirely sure that Elena ever had any intention of doing it. She's choreographing a show/tour at present which is due to be on at the same time Strictly is on. Actually she's been doing it for a while now.

The producers ARE ruthless. They've axed Matthew Cutler, Ian Waite, Brian Fortuna and Lilia and Darren in the past. Matt, Lilia and Darren were former glitterball winners as well. They won't think twice about letting people go when they want to freshen things up. No one is bigger than the show in their minds, but doing so after just one very succesful series is really, really odd and there's has to be more to it.

No,I find it difficult to believe that they let him go.Inclined to agree with Melissa that it makes sense for them both to be here together as the salary for one person is not much in real terms.Not enough that you should be across the world from your family for 4 months or more and not enough that you could all move here either on one salary.Impossible situation for the couple . Ok well, apparently Len and Bruno were 'very anti Gleb'. But we're not sure if that's the reason he was dropped. Some fishing will be done to find out though.

I was just wondering if it was Len, as I read Josh's post more closely. The judges seem to have more weight than the dancers. I know costume didn't like him either so perhaps the production team decided he upset too many people important to the running and image of the show. I can see why Len would be anti-Gleb, but not so sure about Bruno.

I'm sure the truth will come out at some point. It does seem very odd that he made a big thing of getting a new VISA, did Celebrity Masterchef and was also in the UK only last week. Why go to all that trouble if you didn't want to come back?

Sounds like it is a combination of things .Len/Ken doesn't like Gleb but wouldn't he have done the backstabbing by now since the decision seems to have been taken within the last few days ? Perhaps Gleb was signed up already (as I read reports of this months ago) and was hoping his wife would be too and when they heard she wasn't....he decided to drop out as it makes no financial sense for them to be apart for 4-6 months.Last year is a one off.He was hoping to make his mark....he did and she was around to support him but you can't be apart every year.His daughter needs a steady home life .If they were both signed up...financially they are able to move themselves here.

So maybe SCD didn't want to sign her up at Len's insistance....the old goat.

Well, then .... I'm glad we got the spoilery warning, I was prepared for this. And even thought of the silver lining: no disappointments with possible bad partnerships or early outs. Can watch as a neutral, which is much less stressful.

As to the reasons ... I can imagine he might've negotiated hard; even without Elena in the mix, I could imagine him making demands so as to make it worth his being away from his family so much. Beyond Elena or money, he might've made demands regarding artistic control or choice of celebrity-- the favoured DWTS pros enjoy special status and he might've wanted that as well (understandably so, seeing how much of a splash he made in his first season and on the tour). Would fit in with MF poster's comment about ego.

Too fresh too quickly in this case means demanding which they don't like.Len is on £90k and £3.5million in the US ...... the pros are on £34k for 4-6 months .£34k is not enough to set up home in London unless his wife is taken on as well or he is given more himself and he deserved it.....he was a big big draw.Its not Len,Bruno or those two women Claudia and her mate I forget the name.If he was let go recently...it means he was signed up but when they knew she wasn't,maybe he tried to speak to them about it and they would not budge .Last year she kept having to come over here and bring the daughter.....you can't financially/physically do this every year and if they are apart for 4-6 months...of course suspicion sets in so he has put his family first.Seems he is thinking long term rather than any problem in their marriage.His wife has been posting all kinds of family pics and he posted a clip "can't wait to see my girls" meaning wife and daughter.SCD should have done better by him as we will not be watching.I hope Bold can come up with fly on the wall programmes for them as a family.

Just caught up with the news guys I really am stunned even though we were kind of warned this might be the case. My first thought was that Elena auditioned and hadn't been successful therefore Gleb decided that it just wasn't worth it logistically. I'm going to take some of the "inside knowledge" about his antics with a pinch of salt but I wouldn't be surprised if he had become unpopular with certain people as he kind of stole the show last year.

I don't want to be unfair to the new guy but they do seem to have attempted finding a Gleb replacement (he's very easy on the eye) which perhaps suggests they knew a while ago Gleb wasn't coming back. Pure speculation and I haven't had chance to read all the reports and so on so I could be way off there but that's just an observation I made. I do think they will lose viewers although not significantly - I'm not blinded by the fantastical Gleb enough to believe the show can't survive without him . But still, it really won't be the same for me this year.


Surprised about Bruno, but not in the slightest about bitter old Len. Sorry - can't stand him and if they wanted to freshen the show up then he should have been the first to go (sorry to any Len fans ).

VD.....London being what it is you need at least £70-100k to live in a dump let alone something half way decent.Of course he is saying family commitments and now media is in overdrive about his marriage.I think nothing is wrong there but as Josh has said...he is looking long term.They need to be together not apart for 4-6 months a measly £30-35k.

HI everyone - Chou, Vodka, Josh, Gaga and Melissa ... I'm so disappointed and it's worse that Gleb wanted to return but was rejected for whatever production reason. Can't say I have much enthusiasm for the next series and like Melissa I feel meh about the new guy. To make matters worse Gleb is still not on MC tonight!

Someone on the main forum has suggested the sexy calendar may have been to blame. The new rules in the contract suggest that the pro's are not allowed to do anything to manipulate the public vote, and I think that something like a calender could be classed at that.

I'm now wondering it was Gleb, or his agent who leaked that contract to the press? Someone somewhere did, it's almost like having the last word.

But did Gleb know those rules last year and the impact on his contract this year? To me it suggests not because why would he have done something to break the rules of a programme he intended to resume? It doesn't make sense. BUT if it were as petty as that then I'm glad the ridiculous contract was leaked. I know that 34k for 3-4 months work is a lot but given the effort of the dancers versus the judges, for example, it's peanuts and what are they meant to do for work and money the remainder of the year? I think the pro dancers are undervalued. I've not forgiven SCD for axing Ian Waite whilst retaining Anton and Brendan. To make matters worse I loved Trent and he didn't return and now Gleb. I don't know if I can muster the enthusiasm for another season. But may be that will change, I hope so.
