I'm glad that the mole in the main thread returned and added some detail--I find it very believable that they wanted him back but that his hesitation scared them into letting him go.

I wonder if the hesitation was because he would like to return to DWTS and was hopimg for an approach from them? I always got the impression that he was treating Strictly like an audition for getting back into DWTS. Remember Lana saying an that in an interview he did in Russia he spoke of doing a series of Strictly, the tour and then DWTS in America, the problem is if they don't come calling he is going to be out of work for the foreseeable future. I still think that Strictly is the superior version and don't understand why anyone would chose DWTS over it, but there you go.

I suppose he could still return to SCD in theory because they are still a male pro down, but it's unlikely now.

I do think that's it--I've always had the impression DWTS was his real goal. For me SCD is far superior too, but I guess it's understandable that a pro like Gleb would favor it--apparently more money, more star power, more leeway in terms of production, being based in LA (good weather and show business capital of the world). I wonder if he has a chance of being considered again.

At least he hasn't burnt any SCD bridges during his recent publicity rounds. He's had nothing but nice things to say, so we can hope that he might be allowed to return one day should other things not work out for him.

Hello to all - recent contributors Chou, Melissa, Ochre and Vodka - as well as others who read. Like others, that wedding photo is lovely. I think Gleb is getting more attractive with age as he was too good looking (if that's possible) in his twenties. I hope that they have another fulfilling 10 years as couple, at the least.

I feel deflated still at the loss of Gleb from the next SCD series. I hope he remains on MC longer than he did on Strictly. If he rejoins DWTS I might have to watch it ... somehow!

Yes I did and wasn't he gorgeous and so clean and tidy when he was cooking !!
Bless him he made some pancakes,a Russian salad and Russian chicken burger...all recipes from his childhood .Very well cooked according to John and the other guy,although slightly bland and lacking in veg and therefore in colour according to my Mum.......she said he cooked it well and plated it nice ...I would try anything Gleb cooked! Good presentation .

Well thats it .....no Gleb so no Masterchef for us now !

Mom and I were thinking that Cherry kinda took over when they catered to the athletes.Seemed like Gleb was being the gent and allowing her to tell him what to do when the concept is he puts himself first and forward .Liked his desert .

First time I am watching this and now have no interest but that business of somebody starts something and the other one comes in........difficult me thinks ...but had to laugh when Gleb whips off the tea towels ! Maybe he has never watched MASTERCHEF before and thought I will incorporate Russian dishes as a novelty but in essence we in the UK are extremely cosmopoliton in our food what with Indian,Italian,Sushi and Thai.Then our deserts are wide ranging.Think Russian deserts are more like Dutch ones and my Dad says Russian food is simple hearty fair...more like our meat and two veg of 1950........

So we only got a glimpse of Gleb......two sessions....hope he is on a TV screens some other way. You know they can be just like the Beckhams and now the Murrays. Apparently we in the UK like family people and since Andy Murray had his child he is more in demand aside from the tennis.Thats what BOLD should be doing and I think somebody mentioned that before here and I have.We need to see him more......

I read that interview this morning as well Cavalli. He has a really good sense of humour, I wonder why he didn't see much of that on Strictly? Or was he told by the producers to just stand there and look pretty?

I've pondered that too, Vodka. I wonder if he'd been partnered with a bigger character than Anita, a comedy duffy perhaps or a poptart type, he might have been allowed to show more of himself? Or maybe he deliberately held himself back so as not to overshadow Anita (in interviews and stuff I mean)?

The interview also implies that there was a wrangle over money with the Strictly producers, which would support what backstageone said about the Indecisiveness about returning. Basically, 'you give me x y and z and I'll come back', he over estimated his worth to the show. No one is bigger than it and that's why he was cut lose. A lesson to all of the pros there I think I do have to wonder if he ever intended coming back though, as the show he is doing in October with Elena in Moscow was being planned as far back as February (it would clash with Strictly).

Will we ever really get the truth I wonder?

Belated hello Melissa. Gleb gone again so quickly <sigh>. It was a fair decision though, unlike the Strictly one.

I think his Russian fare was well received. There were issues with his seasoning sometimes and his chocolate truffle pud failed with the trio of critics, which sealed his fate.

Elena has been very sweet to him on FB/Twitter. Saying her husband is a fabulous cook. They seem a lovely couple but I do not want them to go the way of the Beckhams or, god forbid, the Jordans!

@Maggie.....yes his wife has been sweet and no doubt he seems to cook at home.Loads of pics of him cooking as well as his wife and daughter. His dishes were nice and could be something lost in translation......probably thought I will introduce the UK to Russian food considering we are so familar with different cuisines.Shows you how cultural we are really...we like seasoning,colour,spice,culture...........on a plate with a dash of history.He could win for the bestlooking person on MC.Really looked so good and tidy whilst cooking. Nice air about him....so when do we see him again....??



Bigger than the show ...well if you are a die hard dance fan but not if you only watch it due to personality which is the case with Gleb.So its 50/50. SCD can say what they like but to 50% of the people its nothing unless they are interested in a dancer or celeb.I don't think he made demands.Indecisiveness indicates not committing.So if she was not offered a contract or he was not offered more money....really not financially viable for them to move here so I see his point entirely.
