My feeling choucroute is that Gleb was always intending to go back to DWTS. However in the mean time he did DWTS Russia and Strictly. Now if Anita had been a dud and voted out early on we'd probably barely remember him and no one would give a toss, but they became a fan favourite partnership, and he was a huge hit with viewers which I'm not entirely sure was part of his plan.

Obviously Strictly wanted him back, and the indecssiveness that backstageone spoke of was that he'd only do if DWTS didn't want him back. Unwanting a repeat of the Emma Slater situation in 2013 where she dropped them in the shit at the very last minute when DWTS wanted her back, they cut him lose and agreed to let him say that family commitments were the reason. I think it was also telling that he didn't do DWTS Russia either, as he could have done both that and Strictly. Oti did DWTS Germany this year, so it was possible. Strictly and DWTS Russia were just stop gaps whilst he worked out the problems in his marriage (I'm still not entirely sure I believe there was an affair, but to be fair I'd not be happy if my husband danced half naked with another woman either..)

I take the affair stuff with a grain of salt--the video I thought was more self-serving than proof of an affair. But those who followed it said that Elena freaked out on social media, so she must've been upset about something.

I think the situation with Elena was understandable. He's was dancing in his underpants with a woman in a skimpy leotard. It was for the ice bucket challenge, and was obviously professionally filmed so they weren't alone when doing it. But yeah, they'd been apart for a long time at that and possibly it hit a raw nerve. Insecurities come to the surface, and Izabella is beautiful as well.

The story of his affair emanated on the forum last year because two US-based posters supplied all the background to Gleb's quitting the USA after Elena left with Olivia. So I'm inclined to believe something occurred especially as SCD made a point of 'saying hello' to Elena when Gleb first appeared. But anyway ... we've lost him to DWTS, which looks hideous to me from the videos I've seen on YT. I will seek his out once the show commences but I suspect I will dislike most of his routines as I imagine them in the vein of the AT he performed on Russian DTWS ...

Oh it is hideous Maggie. Check out the video of Emma Slater and celebrity dancing to a song from Toy Story whilst dressed as Woody and a CGI Buzz Lightyear appears on the floor and danced with them. People who complained about G&G's Beauty and the Beast routine really have no idea how bad things could get lol

I don't think there was an affair to be honest and I also think that Elena is better looking than Isabele....but I think there was an attraction and strongly from her (IM) side.
She never got over it even the following year and has still left her comments on her twitter and references to him .I think that if there was an affair he would have broken it off in person/phone and she is indicating that she just never saw him again.Probably when Elena let rip .She said...."in case you never see your love again make sure that you always hug and love as if its the last time....." with a pic of them dancing.

The time apart was merely because Elena was in India and she was gone something like 7 weeks.......

But coming back to Gleb......hope to see him on DWTS and back on SCD.Till then....no SCD for me....

Yeah, I think they were close friends, she probably had a crush on him (who can blame her) but that's as far as it went. She certainly did right goady stuff on her Twitter and Instagram though.

So Gleb got a middle of the roader as a contestant on DWTS. I've never heard of her (Jana Kramer) but on paper she looks fine. If she turns out to have a reality-show friendly personality and the producers willing, he might make it further than he did before. He won't be able to challenge their other male stars (I mean the pros), but if he's lucky he might be able to stick around for another season--at least they didn't give him a no hoper.

He's getting a lot of stick on social media because a lot of DWTS fans think that Mark Ballas was axed to make way for him.

That seems strange. Gleb's star doesn't seem like a typical Mark Ballas contestant. (I'd have thought he'd be paired with the gymnast.) But I guess simple fan math means since Gleb is the new cast member and Mark is out than Gleb is the bad guy.

In any case, Gleb will have to be at the top of his game. Success at DWTS depends a lot more on social media and reality show games.

I'd like to say that Gleb is really good at social media, but most of his updates are pics of him eitnwr shirtless or brooding selfied. I'm nor sure if it will cut the mustard but who knows? If his celeb is an MOR then it could go either way.

Didn't watch SCD but saw an article of the pairings online.Just made me realise how good Gleb (and Anita) were and how we will miss him.

Not too impressed with the lineups but I think that Gio and Laura stand a good and better chance because everybody else seems a bit dull .The Spanish guy Gorka does not look right with Tameka at all although she comes across as really funny and likeable.

Coming back to Gleb....Jana Kramer.Heard she has split from her third husband and still only 32.......seems a fragile person...even more fragile and smaller than Anita if that is possible.Skin and bone.Can't see any chemistry there...just polite smiling from both.Even on the first few pics you saw Anita with her arm round him....think she took him under her wing as he was new and Russian.

Hi Melissa. Yes I saw those photos of Gleb and his celeb partner on DWTS. It's a pity that the incident with Gleb has left you with such feelings. I hope that they diminish. I look forward to seeing Gleb's DWTS dances on YT but agree it's not the same. Sad thing is that 2016 celebs look most promising and I like some of the new pros including Gorka ... He's no Gleb but he's taking Tameka in her stride, which seems promising. He has a good sense of humour it would seem and is easy on the eye. But of course not as beautiful as Gleb. Gleb's already had to travel to Nashville and God knows where else to train with her in between her touring/recording etc. She doesn't seem all that invested to me, we know that people who don't give it 100% don't do very well. We've seen in on Strictly countless times over the years. It needs to be the main focus of your life for the time you are doing it. They don't ever seem to have the same kind bond between pro and celeb on DWTS anyway.

DWTS will be over by mid October. It doesn't run as long Strictly does as they have two, shorter series a year. Wonder what he'll do then?

I'm a bit more optimistic for Gleb/Jana. He's doing a good job of posting behind the scenes and training videos, so already doing the work to get viewer support. As to her traveling, that might earn some respect from the audience--she's actually doing something rather than being famous for nothing or a has-been. Also, they'll feature the travel in the packages (VTs in SCD-speak) which is usually a benefit. (DWTS can be dastardly in showing tense moments in training which kill a celeb's chances of getting votes.)

I missed Anita/Gleb during the launch too. Nothing against Gorka, but he won't fill the Gleb space for me.

As to what he'll do when DWTS ends: count his money, enjoy his time in sunny LA with his family?

Hope too that this Jana makes an effort .I have never heard of her obviously.Seems a bit off that he has to travel around to keep up with her timetable although I did see a whole crew travelling with him.He did look tired and I did wonder what he was doing in Nashville .

I think his wife is obviously behind this move for various reasons.They both like the US and she was not offered anything on SCD.She is also basically his manager I think and she has her eye on the ball so to speak. I notice that Jade of BOLD headed off to meet Gleb in LA in recent days .

Maggie......I never watched SCD before Gleb so it means nothing to me .I decided to watch the pairings on catch up and yep.....missed Gleb so much It was really missing a spark. No romance or excitment. Pairings all off apart from Gio and Laura and maybe Brendan.And I agree.......Gorka is no Gleb much as I like Spaniards.The dancers look ok but some of the celebs are too old or too average looking...lol....glad that Anton got that woman....was she in EE ???

BiB 1: Celebs on DWTS are often on the road--the pros just have to go with them. As I mentioned above, it usually is a positive things in terms of how the producers present the pair and how they're treated by voters. Occasionally there's been the bad package where the pro is frustrated due to lack of training time or the celeb is exhausted and/or skips the training. Hopefully Gleb (or Elena?) is smart enough not to provide any drama.

BiB3: I was sad to see some here (on the main forum) "turning on" Gleb for his decision. No matter what we think or how much we prefer SCD to DWTS, it seems that it should be understandable that an entertainer would be drawn to the entertainment capital of the world, even when not taking into account that his family can or will join him there. So I was glad that some of his fans defended him.

Actually DWTS srart next week and runs to the end of November/beginning of December.

I don't think people have turned on him as such. It's more disappointment that he chose DWTS over Strictly, it's IMO lame and inferior. Just look at comments on Pure DWTS and under Youtube videos from Americans saying they wish it was more like Strictly, they seem to especially enjoy our pro dance group routines.

I understand his reasons for leaving, but I'm disappointed. I cant stay angry at that beautiful face for long though

I was hoping he'd ditch Jade now, but clearly not. He's a cash cow to her for sure.

I'm rather partial to Gorka but he does not supplant Gleb in my affections. I cannot remain angry with Gleb either VD. He's so charming ...

Melissa, the celeb Anton is paired with is Lesley Joseph from Birds of a Feather. Tameka Emson is from EE and she's with the delightful Gorka. I like both of these female celebs and wish Lesley didn't have Anton because she will not stand a chance as the eldest female contestant.

I look forward to SCD 2016 very much and I wasn't sure I would. I look forward to Gleb's DWTS dances and following him on social media. I'm sure he'll be back to the UK one day for something or another ...

There seems to be a fair few contenders this year. I would say that Laura and Giovanni have both been well and truley screwed by the producers though. He looked so much better with Anastacia, and is apparently a huge fan as well. I bet he's gutted.

Alijaz will have his work cut out with Daisy, who seems a bit stiff and dull. Part of me is glad Gleb is no longer part of Strictly for that very reason, because he'd have got her for sure. I don't think Louise is going to be the ringer we all thought shed be, and Judge Rinder might be a very pleasant surprise.

I don't like Laura and Giovanni either and would have preferred her with Brendan and Gio with Anastacia. I would have preferred Lesley with Kevin too because I think she's quite limber and will be able to learn routines and techniques. I think Kevin would have taught her properly and not plumped for comedy. I would not have put Louise with Anton though! In fact I wouldn't have wished him on any of this year's female celebs. I think watch this space on Louise because she has been picked out by a poster called enthus-pro who last year selected Georgia, Helen and Jay for dance worthy comment. He's chosen Ore and Naga along with Louise, for now, which suggests she is showing some promise. It will be good for her to begin with lowered expectations so that she can find her comfort zone.

I'm very much looking forward to Judge Rinder and Ore and interested in Will and Greg too. I can see myself very undecided about how to cast my votes!

I believe the seasons run for 10 weeks and the fall season ends the week before Thanksgiving or before. So if I have it right the season runs from September 12th premiere to the final on November 14 or 15th (if finale is a 2 day event).

I enjoy SCD so much more than DWTS for the beautiful ballroom and the fact that they have much more time and do not feel the need to be so hectic. But having said that there are very memorable dances performed on DWTS so I don't count it out entirely.

I would say that one advantage for pros on DWTS that has not been brought up is that I think they have much more creative freedom in choreography. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.
