What happened to coffee everything?
Mister Richard

There was a time when you could buy coffee walnut whips, coffee matchmakers, xmas chocolates always had coffee creams in them (roses, quality street etc.), revels have dropped the coffee cream and even aldi have withdrew their coffee and cream flavour chocolate bar (unless I haven't looked hard enough). It's as if manufacturers don't want us to have coffee products anymore (apart from the drinks that is).
I would love to have some reasonably priced, lovely coffee creams again but I can't get them anywhere. I did try the Thorntons ones but they were rather heavy and rich but not too flavoursome. And they were expensive (about £3 for a tiny bag).
I have seen some on ebay but again very expensive (Beeches coffee creams). I think the only way to get coffee stuff now is to build a time machine.

I always remember hearing complaints about coffee flavoured anything, which was always good for me, meant I always got those ones.

Wonder if they still make coffee flavoured Walnut Whip, fancy one of those now.

Thorntons do a cappuccino truffle which is very nice.

I didn't know the coffee Revel had gone!? I know they dropped it a few years ago but brought it back. There's also a coffee chocolate in Cadburys Roses called 'Coffee Escape'.

I love coffee creams and I agree, they're becoming harder to get.

I've just checked and the coffee Revel was booted out in 2008 but was reinstated in 2009. I thought so, last time I had Revels there were definitely coffee ones.

Excellent find by you planets. Hope they're better than the other Thorntons one I had, Certainly cheaper!

That's true venusinflares, but they got rid again. I can vouch for that after stuffing my face with a whole bag of them not 30 minutes ago! Not a coffee one in there!

The various pound shops were selling Whittards coffee creams around Christmas time. Think they probably still have some.

I would guess some research has gone into the public's chocolate flavouring preferences and it was found that coffee flavour wasn't as popular as some others. Plus, coffee itself is an expensive ingredient so for "value" type chocolate selections like Roses and Quality Street the cost was probably taken into consideration which is why both products are now very pale and poor imitations of what they once were but the price is actually lower than when I was a kid in the early 1980s!

I don't like many coffee flavoured chocolates but I ADORE Booja Booja Around Midnight Espresso Truffles. Deeeelicious!

You're quite right. My apologies. It says on the wrapper you get coffee ones in there, but I either didn't get one in the bag or if I did, it didn't taste much like coffee (which is the most likely).

I'm thinking these are the only places you might find things like this nowadays. Thank you for your post.

I think this goes a long way to explaining why the demise of the coffee cream or related products. Have checked the booja booja ones out but waitrose are selling them for £6.99 and you get 9 truffles for that. Bit steep but I'm guessing they should be amazing for that price!

Thank you for that link. And indeed everyone for being so helpful in my quest for the rarity that is the now almost extinct coffee cream!!

For coffee creams I've found these...each are for 1kg ! Don't know how much Amazon would charge for delivery or if you might qualify for free delivery if you have Prime, but the Ebay delivery is free.

Thank you for that Miss C. but still terribly expensive. I guess you have to pay a lot nowadays for something that came as standard in years gone by. Blimey!
