Let's be honest, in a series where they are struggling to pull in names they probably shove these idiots in to make the numbers up. But this year they've managed to find plenty of celebs to go into the house, so tell me why do they need these non entities from crappy low rent MTV reality shows that only a few hundred people actually watch?

They are completely pointless.

I think they are excellent signings

Megan Mckenna 98k twitter followers, Ex on the beach 3 ave viewers 777,000

Scotty T 1.22 Million twitter followers, Geordie Shore ave viewers for last series 1,149,000

so not really that pointless or non entities, and clearly more than a few hundred watch

Granted Megan is scraping the barrel having only done one series of ex on the beach so far. But Scott has been on Geordie Shore for years and the show is actually really big, I think he deserves a place.

I'd forgotten about the random tattooed bloke to be honest, but the argument still stands, anyone over the age of 20 will struggle to know people from Geordie Shore is. Ex on the Beach is just chavvy trash surely?

Showmance would be my guess.

It seems there could already be a romance on Celebrity Big Brother 2016.
The new series hasn't even been running for a full 24 hours and already two of the housemates are getting close.

You need to think that Geordie Shore actually was quite close to BB16 in the ratings, so a fair bit of more people know who Scotty is (I don't like him though).

To you, they may be non-entities, but for BB's demographic, they are certainly not that. You need to remember that there are a LOT of younger people watching the show, people who won't know someone from Eastenders, Angie Bowie, David Gest etc... I notice a lot of people only know Scotty and Megan.

"Celebrity" is a fluid word. Some people will call some people celebs but others may say "how are they celebs?". They are to a lot of people. Just because you don't know them, doesn't mean they are not known. It's all about your age.

The series has a real mix which will make younger and older viewers happy despite not having huge status stars.

Hollyoaks is seen by a younger audience, so it's more likely that Stephanie is known by under 18s, and EE has an older audience so its more likely that over 40s will know John.

David is known by people over 40 for his marriage to Liza, David is known by people under 30 for his participation in IAC.

Angie is known by people most likely over 50, for me, I had to google her to realise who she was. On line, I see that a huge majority of Under 20s didn't know who she was, but a big majority of over 50s did.

Not at all, I knew of people due to my viewing habits, not due to my age, my age doesn't denote what shows I do or do not watch nor does my gender.

Me too. I watch all kinds. But a lot of people watch shows catered for their ages.

Hence why you won't see many over 70s watching Big Brother, Geordie Shore, TOWIE, Made in Chelsea.

Just like you won't have many Under 18s watching Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow and Midsomer Murders.

This stuff isn't spoken about much for the UK, but the US ratings always count on the demo to look at how successful a show is. Shows such as The Voice, Big Brother have huge younger audiences, but despite Dancing with The Stars, Blue Bloods and Madam Secretary getting higher viewers, it gets much lower audiences that are young.

I'm a single straight 38yr old male. Please would you use your powers to tell me who I knew of and what shows if any I watched and knew them from. Thanks.

Of course it doesn't age is immaterial but this forum generally is generally way out with who is and who isn't likely to be popular in these shows.

It assumes an old timer name will be popular with all, that's why David Gest won't win as his jungle time is too long ago to get enough of a young vote

It never gets how a young current name from a uk reality show is so popular .

There was someone on here who thought Scott could be the first out, when the jungle was on someone thought Vicky Pattison was a good bet to be eliminated first in a vote to save

I am not young anymore but I tend to know uk people young and old, I never know who American people are as i have no interest in American culture

Like I said, it's different for different people, and news is not released much in the UK. But the US, you see what kinds of people watch what.

I can say that the typical (not ALL) 38 year old male wouldn't watch CBBC and wouldn't know people on Ex On The Beach.

If I said Adam Gabriel or Jess Impiazzi to an over 50 they probably wouldn't know who I am talking about. If I said it to a 20 year old, more people would.

It's common knowledge. That's why there is such thing as demographic.

Countryfile doesn't have a big 16-32 demo. The Voice and X Factor has a massive one.

But then there are shows that demo has proved goes against the typical grain:

Top Gear
David Attebourough Docs

Those are the ones that are watched by Under 18s all the way up to 50+

I know, usually the forum is very out of touch. Voting with a mobile, a click or a text is going to win if they have loads of fans, even if they don't watch Big Brother, the followers will vote anyway and tweet about it,

I only use Facebook as a messaging tool, nothing on there is real.

Exactly. Age, sometimes gender and what you are interested in is a factor in who you know and what you watch.

Someone who doesn't watch American reality, obviously won't know American reality stars, those who do, obviously do know who they are.

I only watch BBC1 for The Apprentice and the odd Attenborough documentary, if someone goes in from New Tricks, Silent Witness, I will literally have no idea who the hell they are, despite 7m will.

Well, I watch pretty much all reality, I don't however watch Cashdashians nor whatever tiffany was in, I wouldn't enjoy watching people out getting drunk and having sex, I have see too much of that in the real world, so I didn't watch Jawdie Shore with the jungle girl, or Crosby.

I don't watch Geordie anymore because of Scotty. I don't watch the Kardashians either.

That's another thing with age. I'm growing up and got tired of Geordie Shore. I loved it when I was 17-19, now I'm 23, I don't watch it.

Unfortunately the day before Jordan was on, I had to damage my eyes with knitting needles, hopefully I'll be healed soon. I did hear she smashed it, which is good for her, plus it showed how bad Jordan was. The vacuous mess.

How do you know David won't win? What's the young vote got to do with it. Don't you think there's more than young people watch CBB?

You say you're 'not young anymore', but know loads about TOWIE GS etc. Do you watch these programmes?

You certainly sound young
