The worst thing about streaming is that as more and more people join Spotify, they all just continue streaming the same songs as everyone else.
It's the only explanation I can think of to explain why What Do You Mean? is going to be back in the top 3 again after two months. It's definitely not a case of the song becoming more popular again, but that more people are listening to the song because they already liked it 4 months ago.
If Justin Bieber released three new singles on the same day, and they entered the UK chart at #1, #2 and #3 then I will say it's an achievement.
If the UK chart is supposed to represent the most popular songs at the moment then an all Justin Bieber top 3 is a massive failure.
Where are Mike Posner, Matt Simons, twenty one pilots, Alan Walker, The Chainsmokers feat. ROZES, Lukas Graham etc...in todays chart? Nowhere to be seen because UK radio stations aren't playing these songs so the general public don't know these songs exist and yet they are already on iTunes and Spotify and I'm sure would be near #1 if they were getting the levels of airplay that Bieber has been getting.
The UK chart right now is just a reflection of what radio stations and music channels are playing. Everything else makes up the top 200.
