My cat keeps me awake by scratching at doors, are there any ways to train them not to?
Im trying a little water gun to see what happens but if theres another way?
Well which doors, mine will scratch the back door if it wants out or in. The same with the bedroom door if evict them. So it would depend why she is doing it really?
This post is for my mother she is ill and has a cat its at her bedroom door, but she doesnt want the cat in her room at night, we have recently lost a cat the cats brother and ever since chrystal thats her name has been yowling and digging at door all night

well she is lonely and wants to be with your mum eventually she will give up and go to sleep somewhere else, you're probably better off ignoring her as if you open the door you're giving her what she wants when she scratches it so it's self rewarding to her
We know its lonely, we thought of putting a night light in the cat room and a radio on quiet to see whether that would work , we cant get another cat we had 7 and 6 have gone of old age in the past 2 years my mam cant deal with anymore upset, the cat has its own room at night its the door of that room she is digging at

Don't harm the cat; try putting a large soft obstacle in the way such as a cushion or pillow. Also buy some ear plugs.
Dont worry in no way would we harm her , we was just thinking of spraying a little water near her when she comes near the door to dig , but I was wondering whether there was alternative things to do, with cushion mext to the door she ll probably just paw it away butwill try that thanks

The only thing it would be acceptable to do would be to put unattractive scents by the door as a deterrent, e.g. pepper, citrus fruit oils or olbas oil.
I know but she never got on with her brother and never slept near him it was the fact that there was someone else in the room with her, she never got on with any of the other cats, we think it might be that shes getting alot more attention through the day as there arnt other cats to give attention to that she wants it all night too
I saw a cat whisperer type person train a cat to not claw at the bedroom door using a can of compressed air with a motion sensor like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/PetSafe-SssC...s=ssscat+spray It's a bit expensive but if bad smells don't work, it might be worth a try.
I gave up with mine and now leave the door slightly open so Dexter can come in. It's great fun getting your toes nipped at 3 am........
