But yes, in my opinion, if you live in glass houses you shouldn't throw stones, I don't expect her to remain silent, but I also do not believe she should speak in a negative way about something she actually knows nothing about, either the break up of Ben's marriage or if his children even know.
What I would expect from anyone who has lived a similar situation through is to not pass judgement as there are many sides to the story.

Jane Moore is a very eminent journalist, author and editor. She has written extensively about second wives, remarriage and step children. I imagine like Samantha Brick, Liz Jones and Katie Hopkins she has to dumb down for clickbait and the lowest common denominator.

Gosh that's so harsh and so simple. Abby and Ben were childhood sweethearts. It's hard to maintain relationships begun so early because people grow and change so much especially in their 20/30's. I've not followed the whole story but it does seem that Ben has flailed around in his attempt to quit his marriage. Perhaps he was conflicted because of the strength of bond between him and Abby, even though he felt the marriage was over. He's hurt Abby and indirectly will have hurt his girls but not all hurt is damaging and I hope both Abby and Ben keep the girls' interests foremost. Adolf Hitler was an utter scumbag; Ben Cohen is a flawed human being like me and many others.

I can understand them informing the children about the news (even though they apparently didn't) but, why do they have to inform the ex wife, it's not like she'll be paying for the baby's upkeep.

Someone above said they were childhood sweethearts and as the split was relatively recent (year or so) then I would've thought errrr...common decency would surely come into play.
The thought of having his wife of several years and young children learning of his glad tidings through the media ...well beggars belief really. And I really hope that didn't happen.

Samantha Brick is a narcissist, so too is Liz Jones, Katie Hopkins does not dumb anything down, she is not as intelligent as she likes to tell people she is. She likes to call herself a word-smith, however when I have seen her speak for herself on many platforms, her vocab is actually quite limited. She purports an image of herself that a few people believe, that she is of superior intellect compared to others.

I agree with everything you write amelia_lee and would go further to state Katie Hopkins is a clinical narcissist whose intelligence is deeply flawed by her inability to see that she plays to the lowest common denominator as she is part of the lowest common denominator. I have zero respect for Samantha Brick or Liz Jones and squirm at what they write and expose of themselves and I'm deeply embarrassed that either would be seen to speak for women. As to Jane Moore I recall her from Question Time; she wrote for a Tory rag in those days. For me that's enough. Loose Women is a terrible programme.

I didn't go into it in my last post, however having been around quite a number of them and studying them, I believe Katie to be a sociopath from the behaviours she exhibits, which being a sociopath includes having a narcissistic personality too. Obviously this is not the thread for it, but there are a lot of red flags that point to her being one.

Yes, Liz and Samantha to me embarrass themselves with their 'writing', which to me doesn't seem to be dumbed down, only indulging their own egotistical thoughts.
