maybe winston is homophobic based on his vt, but one thing im tired of is gay people and some straight people who accuse everyone of being gay who is homophobic, im bi myself btw but i dont go round accusing everyone of being in the closet because they dont agree with my lifestyle thats just a lazy argument weapen. some people are racist does this mean they are secretly of the oppisit race? just saying anyway.

Anyone know anyone who doesn't think that Winston 'protests too much'

Anyone anywhere think maybe Winston is scared of sharing a bed with a guy in case he starts 'pointing in a northerly direction?'

Some homophobes are in the closet but most male homophobes have adopted a "genital mutilation" phobia from their culture, a subconscious fear that if they were involved in a homosexual encounter, they could likely be in a submissive role, which would result in their male genitals, and their sexual drive and identity, being ineffective or just cut off.

Female homophobes are more complicated. They usually are afraid the subject of their sexual interest may be disoriented or distracted by other males, but female sexuality often has other factors to consider, like potential offspring, etc., so it's generally more difficult to describe.

Regarding the OP's post, the phrase "... I'm tired of [....] people *who accuse* everyone of being gay..." has its own problems and insinuations based on the context they are spoken.

A legit baseline for this issue is just to consider that there were no homophobes in pre Christian societies. Any further commentary on the issue is far beyond the scope of a TV show chat forum.

I agree too. People were posting the video of the guy spouting homophobic abuse on the tube on facebook and everyone commenting was like" closet case". I think it's easier to believe that rather than actually there are some fundamentally nasty people out there.

I've encountered enough homophobes to know there just are people that hold that view, sadly

This exactly. Just because someone hates homosexuals does not make them secretly gay. That's just a stupid notion. My parents and everyone raised before the 40s certainly comes from "that era" where they still refer to getting a Chinese meal as a "chinky" and other really stupid racial comments.

And loads of men - none of whom are homosexual - think gay sex is an abomination. It's just how they were raised. And Winston is of that age.

Most of those prejudices will be gone in another thirty years or so.

I agree with Syros. It's comlex

Nevertheless, I particularly despise the DS Showbiz forum thread that speculates on the sexuality of celebrities. In this day and age you have to question why anyone cares???
