For those of us that have watched since the beginning myself included a lot of people were teens to mid 20s the audience they wanted at the time.

Now these people are probably 30s-40s but a lot of people in that bracket now expect the show to be made to appease an older audience .

Over the years I have tried to move with the years try and understand who the various young people were in vogue were in years and generally am fine with whoever the housemates are.

A lot of people don't and are shocked and can't understand why people from Geordie shore ex on the beach etc are popular. These are big names to the young audience

However it has to be made primarily for the younger audience still as it always has been

You are never going to get a show made with a bunch of over 40s housemates sitting around talking about the old days for a month as most people seem to want

I'm not bothered what age they are as long as they don't go in to trail to the end
by doing nothing.

I could cope with youngsters that have a brain and something about them, but are you honestly trying to say that the lot they have on this have either ?

This is very very true.

As people get older, their tastes change. Pretty sure if there are people in their early 40s who were in their mid 20s back in BB1 had a different perception of what's entertaining than before.

I like both young and older hms. But I don't enjoy the showmances but people who are 16 may love it.

I'm only 26 and i don't want to see Geordie Shore type people in there.

I don't care so much about the who goes in though. As long as they are good HM's then i can deal with it.

Thinking back to the classic BBs did Kate and Jade have brains in BB3? Kate was a major pisshead who only cared about alcohol and Jade was borderline retarded.

Age is not my issue...... I just expect talent and some personality from a "celeb"

The thing is the ones they choose to appease the "young set" are just vulgar, loud and unentertaining.
I'm sure if most on here, as the OP said, want older people sitting around talking then surely there must be a call for it ?

I get fed up with the loud, vulgar, drunk young ones shouting and talking about shagging conquests etc and turn it to mute.

There are plenty of Young folk that haven't got these unappealing traits.

The older housemates can be just as bad.

Why do they think it's an attractive trait though?
I'm trying to understand?

My daughter is nearly 24 and abhors them.

I agree with some of what your saying but for me,it's not really age that's the issue. I want each participant to bring something to the house not just some faux romance. I also wish the producers would stop they're constant interference as well.

I don't care about their age if they are entertaining, but the Geordie Shore types bore the pants off me.

Their conversations are so shallow.

I could never have been considered a 'Younger Viewer' when it 1st began ,so me not considering the likes of Towie,GS,Types etc not being Celebs isn't really because i'm now 16years older ,it's because I've never thought those types of people should be seen as celebs to begin with

Even in my teenage years I wouldn't have been impressed with that kind of behaviour that occurs on Geordie Shore. I have no problem with the 'younger' housemates. I don't care whether they are 18 or 80 but some personality and a bit of intelligence would help. I'm not into the 'e fancies you, do you wanna snog 'im' type of thing.

it's nothing to do with original viewers from 'back in the day being older and out of touch-
it's to do with the whole premise of the programme being changed beyond all recognition and being dumbed down.

if I had started watching at the start as it is now, I'd have given it the same wide berth as I do all the talentless boring reality shows that I do nowadays.

it's evolved into a Towie Chelsea geordie spinoff!

I have watched since the first show. I don't mind what age they are, but fence sitters and fake romance I cant stand, They go on this show to entertain us , as for GS its their chance to show us they have a brain.. This is BB not GS I don't want to watch ST try to pick up and women and bed them.

When I was younger, I liked intelligent, articulate, witty, eccentric types of any age, and I still do. Of course, in general, people who have more life experience are more likely to have interesting things to talk about, but a fairly wide age range is quite acceptable to me, as long as the HMs have something to offer.

I couldn't care less about the ages of the celebs. I am more interested in substance.

A shallow bore can be any age.

Some people are obsessed with age OP ....

I don't think it's anything to do with age!!

Plus, there's always been youngsters in the house, whether BB or CBB.

For me it's the type of 'youngster.' these days. The TOWIE and GS lot are all carbon copies of one another and nearly all are fame desperados.

Yes they have their fans, young and old. I'm just not one of them.
