Carla is my favorite Corrie female but they have ruined her the past few years with constant misery after misery, shame we won't see anymore scenes with Peter I do look forward to seeing Ali in other roles I think she will do very well.

I think the Corrie producers are spinning Eileen Derbyshire's exit as a temporary sabbatical when hers is permanent too.

I was thinking this, perhaps the actresses have been told they aren't to say they are leaving and it's only mentioned when they are sacked. I think maybe Anne Kirkbride quit the show but they said it was a break rather than kill the character

I think so too.

But I doubt Eileen Derbyshire will give an interview to confirm it.

I'm really surprised by the fanfare her and Nick appear to be getting. It's a union I just can't buy into and don't see much chemistry between King and Ben Price- Nick's much better suited to Leanne. When I compare it to the fireworks and fiery passion that Carla shared with other males in the past it doesn't ring true. Paul wasn't really around long enough for us to sufficiently care about his relationship, but Carla's relationships with Liam, Tony, Frank and Peter (until his affair with Tina) really were compelling.

Look at the Corrie cast in 2003-2004 and 2010, and you'll see a big difference to what it's like now. It's getting weaker by the day...

Such a shame - Alison king is a fantastic actress . I get the feeling many of the cast are unhappy with working hours etc .

Sadly, I'd have to agree. However, I am thrilled to see that the actors playing Pat Phelan and Jenny Bradley are on their way back to the cobbles. There are an awful lot of dire actors still threading water, though: Jennie McAlpine, Sam Aston, Katie McGlynn, Antony Cotton, Brooke Vincent, Tristan Gemmill, Jimmi Harkishin, Lucy Fallon, Marc Anwar, Shelley King etc. Even stalwarts like William Roache, Barbara Knox and Beverley Callard aren't capable of delivering convincing dramatic performances like they once did.

I'm actually enjoying corrie more than Emmerdale at the moment

I don't get the hype over the pairing either and I don't find them believable as a couple. They've known each for years, worked together and interacted regularly during the long-running Nick/Leanne/Peter/Carla story, with zero sign of any attraction, or affection in all of those years. Now we are meant to believe they are head over heads in love with each other? Nah, not buying it.

I have mixed feelings about this news. Carla was one of my faves a few years ago but since she returned from her break in 2012 the writing for her has gotten worse and worse. The character is on the verge of complete burn out now, so it's hard to say that I'll miss her when she goes. Still, a pretty big loss for Corrie however.

Kate Oates and the affair shite is annoying. Saying that I think this week has been good as the Kirin/Adam stuff has been excellent

First of all, Alison King has been a fantastic actress.

But Carla has been overused and I do think it is time for her to go. I really liked her at the start, especially during the Tony/Liam/Maria saga but she started to go down hill once she chased Peter in 2010 and I haven't liked her since as she became very self centred. . I can't say I won't be sad to see the back of her as we now have a rinse and repeat of her storylines.

I also think that's the last we've seen of Emily.

It has though I must admit I have been enjoying corrie more recently. not more than ED!

The lack of David and Kylie is making it miles better. I am enjoying the Carla stuff but she is going to be the January "stunt" again this year as they try to win awards

I hope she will be back and the exit was just in case

Anne was set to return, it was cited at the time that she was having a break for 'personal reasons' but in hindsight, we now know the real reason.

It would have leaked if big names had quit/been sacked in such a way. But I do believe that Emily has left permanently.

Thank **** for that! I'll be popping the champagne corks when vile Carla's finally ****ed off.

This is such sad news, but I suspect she's bored with her character now its been demolished by Blackburn. That man really has been the worst producer in the history of Corrie. The only storyline worth watching was Hayley's exit - the rest...Shite.

Like Tina when she exited Corrie, the character was overused and just irritating. I couln't believe how she managed to stick her nose in every person's business. No matter where they were, she would be there to get involved. She was in basically every episode. This was another Blackburn exit.

And what a surprise, he's done the same to Carla. I hope Blackburn doesn't work on any TV show again. Terrible, terrible producer.

The Corrie cast is getting weaker, and weaker, as weaker actors are brought in, characters that are deadwood to clogg up the houses and the stronger ones leave. The only character Blackburn has brought in worth keeping is Cathy. Other than that scrap the rest.

And get rid of Sean bl**dy Tully.

I would like to wish Ali King every success in the future!! She's a fine actress who has played Carla well over the years, but as a character Carla is a spent force & has been for some time now imo, and i suspect Ali knows it just as well as I do
Personally I put it down to getting her & Peter together!! Peter, Leanne & Simon worked well as a unit & they should have had Peter man up his character for once & reject Carla ( as he set off doing!!) We know enough about her character then to know she would still have kept on trying, as she did with Liam & Maria but I would far rather she had failed, had her spell of misery, attempted suicide etc, then moved on without all the 'supportive, then scorned wife' stuff, it just didn't suit her character as well as being the scheming, manipulative vixen!!
To me her character was developed well by the rape storyline & needing the support of the woman who she had previously wronged, but ever dince then it has been all downhill, until now in 2016 there is nothing left of the original Carla & she has been replaced by a whining irritant character with no inner strength who just blunders along ruining her own life & everyone else's!!
So goodbye Carla, I'll miss the character you once were (who I used to love to hate) but not the character you have become (who, quite frankly I just hate!!)

Lol, I wondered when it would come down to Blackburn. Because it isn't like the actress may want to move on, like many actors have done since the show's beginning.

Gutted she's leaving.
Love her and Nick together and her relationship with Royston.
