I suppose this makes way for more contrived story telling. Carla will leave on Britain's Got Talent week, so be prepared for endless bickering with Tracy, sleeping around with other men and necking red wine for the next 5 months.
![]() I do like Carla, and Alison King is superb, but the character is at a dead end. Maybe a few years away will do her good and if she wants to return in the future, I'd be more than welcome to a return.

Robert will probably try and kill her in the Bistro. He'll reconcile with Tracy, but Carla ends up confessing they had slept together causing an angry Tracy to throw Robert out of Ken's house. Robert is vengeful as Carla has "ruined" his life and plots a campaign of revenge, which will no doubt involve him burning down the Bistro. Carla survives and he perishes.
Carla will then decide to leave Weatherfield after so much heartache and start a new life elsewhere. |

Think I read somewhere she had extended her contract until May

I can still see Jane Danson sticking around, she has been with the show for a long time now. But Paula Lane is more than likely, especially after the whole killing Callum debacle. Plus she has been in the show five and a half years. I must admit I would be truly gutted if she left, as I like her and David.
I know Jane Danson has said in the past that she's happy to stay in Corrie for long as she can but she doesn't seem overly happy with some of her storylines reading in between the lines in interviews. Plus her kids are older which is one of the big reasons for her staying. |

There are many good female characters still on the show who just need some character development (Steph, Sinead, maybe Alya, Kate, Bethany) or renewal of the character they've lost in the case of some (Gail, Maria, Sarah, Sophie, Eileen to name a few!!) We just need some imagination from the writers & storyliners please!! |

Kylie would be a much bigger loss to the show than Carla now in my opinion, &

Spoiler
But yeah I can see the bistro going up in flames. Or maybe even Carla ends up killing someone. Robert? I actually thought the wedding was supposed to be in March, was that true and has it changed or was that just a rumour? If it's BGT week then it will be a big story. She should be on screen until June or July as she doesn't leave until May. |

I don't get what people like about Kylie/Paula, she's a good enough actress in a show like CS but I don't think she's great. I doubt she would even make a career like Sarah Lancashire, or Suranne Jones, let alone crack Hollywood. Has she seen the glamourous, ruthless young actresses they have there?

As a partnership they are one of the best on the show imo!! |

She has messed Corrie about far too much. CCB in the Autumn beckons.

I can't say Im too sad to see her go. Her storylines have gotten tired and repetitive recently. Carla shacks up with someone, something goes terribly wrong in her life, she goes on a month long bender and repeat. She is a lovely actress and enjoyable to watch, its just a shame she was given such awful plot lines in the last 4-5 years that now Carla is a muddled mess with nowhere to go.

Blackburn has seriously upset a few cast members by the number of departures and people signalling their intention to quit during his reign.
It is funny that you can tell who the unpopular producers are when a large number of favourites quit. Remember in EE the number of people who quit or departed when Birkwood was in charge. |

I'm not in the least surprised Alison King is leaving the show. I commented on another thread when her 'break' was announced that she wouldn't be back. I think she is a good actress but has definitely lost her sparkle. Probably as a result of the never ending men dramas and the rubbish writing recently.
I think Alison realised the longer she stayed the less chance of getting work again. Anyone associated with Corrie now who wants a career will be actively looking around to see what other work is on offer. Being associated with Corrie used to be something to be proud of but I really don't think it's the case now. It's ok if you are crap and lucky to be in work, (Fizzy, that's you!) or happy to stay forever, eg Kevin.... Anyone with real acting potential won't linger. I wonder if Alison was persuaded to say she was taking a break as it was around the time lots were leaving?? |

Good luck to Alison though. Fair play to her for taking a risk with her career and leaving Coronation Street I look forward to her new TV roles.

I do believe if they had not overused the actress and given her too many hard hitting big storylines , then perhaps she may have stayed longer . I can imagine going home after being Carla Connor for the day can be quite draining

Oh well. Hope she comes back in the future.
She says in the article that she won't be returning. They are not going to kill her off. So, ....Never say Never. She has the looks and acting ability to succeed outside Corrie. Her daughter is only 7 years old &, apparently, she split from the father, several years ago. |

With Carla departing, does this mean they'll do the right thing and close Underworld.

Urgh, her trajectory on the show is so bloody predictable: wedding during BGT week, Tracy will spill the beans about her and Robert during the ceremony as part of her "revenge", Nick dumps her and she necks copious amounts of red wine, again. It pains me to see what Blackburn has done to the character over the past two years.

Carla was well on her way to being a spent character under Collinson but Blackburn hammered the final nails in. And Carla and Liam are the only Connors who have proven successful in it. The new lot and Michelle are dreadful.

I wouldn't feel too disappointed if Carla was killed off.

I hate the fact that they've also now suddenly turned Robert into a schemer to suit the plot. This is just bloody typical of Corrie writers these days.😠
