I don't like the guy never have done & I am glad he has gone. The voting Public should decide who should leave the house & no one else.

But Emma is totally wrong, his comment about Gays adopting children had nothing to do with what happened in the house, this was said last year during the General Election.

Big Brother set Winston up last night with that impromptu task.

This is why BB only paid Winston 60K because they knew he wouldn't last & he was just a patsy for ratings and nothing more.

Fair point and I don't disagree.

However, people often say they have freedom of speech but forget two fundamentals:
1. Hate speech is not as legal as it once was due to the Equality Act
2. Other people are perfectly at liberty to challenge the beliefs of a total twunt

So he should abandon his personal christian beliefs because it's not popular with the mainstream? That sounds like Twitter/Facebook syndrome where there is only 1 acceptable set of beliefs and anyone who deviates from it gets pilloried and censored

Well, we live in a country where hate speech is illegal, so we don't have total freedom of speech anyway. But even if we did, if he has the right to say whatever he wants, so does everyone else who disagrees with him. While the whole thing has been awful by BB (more because John and Chris and anyone else who is/knows someone who is gay/bi had to listen to that) - if he hadn't made the comments, he wouldn't have been able to be vilified like that, so it's hard to feel sorry for him.

Next week she'll be interviewing Anjum Choudary about his homophobic views...oh wait, that might not be as easy as the shooting fish in a barrel Winston 'interview.'

In society you will have people with such views, a lot of them exist. This liberal attempt to almost cleanse them of thinking these things doesn't work.

Winston will have only reinforced his views to himself if anything.

Freedom of speech only refers to him not being prosecuted for his comments legally which he won't be. Freedom of speech also entails the right for people to vilify him.

Free speech works both ways. It doesn't mean you get to express your opinion and that's that. If you have the right to that opinion, people have the right to challenge and attack you for said opinion.

I was not impressed by her at all.
One of her worst attempts at interviewing, and she has had her fair share of bad ones.
It really is time for her to go.

A really unpleasant programme.

Exactly it amazes me when people say they support freedom of sppech then say people can't challenge someone on their views.

I don't think anyone has said he shouldn't be challenged on his views. The major point, as far as I'm concerned anyway, is the oppressive baiting and intimidation of one man both inside and outside the house on TV - no one deserves that level of oppression for their un PC views.

I'm not aware of what he 'actually' said - I think he was saying the press twisted what he said. If he purely stated that he didn't agree with gay couples adopting due to his religious beliefs, that isn't regarded as a 'hate crime' in line with the Equality Act. If it was, direct action would've been taken by the police.

Other people are completely at liberty (democracy - freedom of speech) to air their opinions which are different to those being stated.

I just feel the whole thing was a complete set-up to vilify a man for making comments outside of the house. It doesn't sit well with me (even though he is a complete twonk as you rightly state!! ).

People that age just have those views on gay people. Even my dad, it is daft and no matter how much you talk to them about it, they will not change. That is my experience.

Views like this will probably die off slowly to the current views on racism in the next decade or two.

You don't seem to be taking into account the current social media hivemind where large groups of leftists band together to censor any opinions that oppose theirs while being dutifully backed up by the mainstream media since it is easy to control people when they aren't allowed to think for themselves

It's gone far beyond 'challenging other people's opinions' to a moral crusade attempting to eradicate any opinion that doesn't follow the designated leftist narrative

I'll bet the majority of that baying crowd outside the house tonight were young girls who spend most of their lives glued to social media. Useful idiots used to push and perpetuate the media's chosen social agenda

I thought Emma's interview with Winston was atrocious. She was at him the whole time, trying to score points and make him look foolish, not giving him time to formulate an answer before going at him again. Very poor interviewing skills. She's ok talking with HMs about fluff and rubbish, but she's no Michael Parkinson, is she!

Rylan's interviiew, I thought, was bloody brilliant. He was calm, he asked pertinent questions, he didn't berate Winston, and allowed him to give his answers.

None of that matters.

Freedom of speech = protection from the government prosecuting you for your expressed views. That's it. No more, no less. His freedom of speech has never been violated.

The UK doesn't have freedom of speech anyways and hasn't for a while (see: hate speech laws enacted in 1986), if ever, so it's a moot point.

Exactly she has been presenting much longer but Rylan is such a better interviewer

Large group of leftists who campaign for people to be seen equally and should not be judged for doing or being something that doesn't cause harm to everyone else. Leftist who wouldn't have to band together if the far right didn't band together to make life difficult for anyone who doesn't look or act like them.

It is really funny that people on this forum think the whole world has changed. There are so many Winstons out there. CBB has housemates with colourful pasts.
