(Relatively) young person here. Can any of the wiser members on here tell me whether Winston's words and actions towards Tiffany were ever considered 'normal'?

Often outdated views are accepted as 'oh, they're from a different time' but if this was going out in 1976 would he be seen as a normal bloke?
