John was quite calm and was pretty much saying that he didn't agree with Winston's opinions but they're his opinions and that's that. Well, cut to tonight's eviction and as soon as John hears the crowd baying for Winston's blood his attitude to the subject completely changes and he suddenly has this rude, angry view on the matter. The man is just an idiot. He has this air about him like he thinks is loved...even all the dramatics on the sofa looking all upset. He's highly irritating. Everything he does seems so orchestrated.”

suddenly John finds him self in a LIVE TELLY FIRING-SQUAD. its easy for us all to get caught up in groupthink and adrenalin nerves etc etc

or does he just have a "stuck up full of himself" resting face?

Once he realised Winston was going, he didn't care about that and could just be totally honest.

He must've known when Winston was making those comments that they weren't going to go down well with the audience. If he were doing it to be well-liked, I imagine viewers would much prefer to have seen him tearing Winston a new one in the first place.”

yes what you said, plus, it is a game show folks, why shouldn't John play it up sometimes?

John said he always disagreed with the comment you could tell he was affected but with the suitcases he still thought Winston was ok up until that point. He probably wanted Nancy to stay over Winston at that point .

Couldn't agree with you more Master Ozzy.

He's playing to win, which is fair enough. He'll probably succeed in a similar way to James Hill.

I didn't like his 'look how magnanimous I am' speech about the suitcase but obviously he's going to be disgusted by Winston's child abuse rubbish and vote him out.

Now he comes across calculating after hearing the crowd reaction.

Don't forget that he told Darren in The Box that he intended to come across as the good guy but then stick the knife in afterwards. I thought he was either joking or letting us in on a plan he had. But he now makes me feel like he played us, not the other housemates.

I now suspect that he wanted to first find out how he thought the viewers felt before he revealed how he felt about it.”

I think it was a fist, not a knife.

Something about, "I'll get brownie points and then..."

I'm really starting to dislike this man, he's so pious

The young reality crowd are thick , I find them annoying but they don't bother me

He's not thick, he's just a pompous diva, his ego is huge and he's already shown that he can't decide what he thinks
I bet he wins for being a gay champion, when he's a champion git.

Begining to think the same.

I agree. He is such a diva. His tears tonight in the diary room were pure acting.

I don't get it.

He was diplomatic and calming at the time, probably thinking that Winston would clarify, perhaps apologise, then he didn't, but compounded his views and John realised he was just a horrible, homophobic idiot and reacted accordingly.

He was also probably annoyed that he even gave Winston a chance.

I don't get the John hate personally. But people think what they like, but saying this was calculated just seems to ignore the series of events.

Completely agree.

I also think he's not being hypocritical in the slightest. He would have had he voted to evict his friend Nancy after being on her side from day 1. He never liked Winston so why should he have voted to save him.

For some on Ds though he's probably one of those "aggressive" gay men who need to be put in their place.

I couldn't agree more - you have said exactly how I feel about it.

I don't think the DR was 'acting' - I don't think people realise just how hurtful it is to be judged like that. John moves in 'show biz' circles he is accepted for who he is - homosexuality is no big deal and doesn't even warrant a mention. I'm guessing it's a wee bit shocking for him to be confronted with such narrow minded bigotry.

Absolutely. And John is camp and ott, it's part of his personality as much as the rather world weary mid forties man is. I don't think he 'put's any of it on in any important sense.

And I think he was a bit shocked to be confronted with Winston's views. It's one thing to know they exist but another to deal with it face to face.

Well said. I like him and think that Winston is totally out of order.

I don't understand how a grown man CAN be reduced to tears simply because someone somewhere has stupid views. I'm sure there is something about me that people somewhere don't agree with or even despise, but so what?

I do think it was, to a degree, threatrics from John.

And I really like John.

I agree, but on the other hand, a large part of the audience absolutely lap it up.

Kind of reminds me of when in an infant school playground when two kids have a row and one cries, even if they were the one that started the argument people will suddenly appear and all try to put one arm around the 'victim' all at the same time while scowling at the other kid!

Some people absolutely thrive on victim culture.
