Hoping someone can help.

My phone is constantly showing as having no memory, no matter how much deal I delete. I have the 8GB iPhone 5C and in starting to lose my mind as the few apps I actually need are performing poorly because I have no memory.

I have deleted over 2000 photos, all unnecessary apps, all text messages, cleared data on apps where I can, deleted media from those apps where I can, deleted all my music... Still showing as no memory, I don't know what else I can do...

Have you gone to Settings/General/Storage & iCloud usage to see what's using the space? Click on Manage Storage to see what's using it all.

8GB isn't that much storage at all as you've actually only got around 4.9GB available for actual storage, try installing Battery Doctor and run the Memory & Junk functions and see if that helps.

It sounds like you need something more than an 8gb phone. Maybe look at picking up a used 32gb 5S.

I hear what people are saying but if he doesn't have any pics or videos, just a few apps, that's not going to take up 4-5gbs is it, so something is amiss somewhere. Best solution is to into iCloud storage settings as someone said above, it will show you what's taking up your space.

A long term solution would be getting a phone with more memory, a good suggestion above is 5S 32gb, can pick them up second hand for £200-250, still great phones aswell

When I'm back home I'll consdier a new phone, I love my iPhone but it's all a bit of a joke.

I have 5GB storage on my phone, it sad I have nothing fee but even when I add up all the usage it gives me I only get ~2.5GB. When I 'manage storage' on wechat to clear the extra data, it tell me how much space I have free on my phone, and I've noticed that number jumps around a lot from 4MB - 100MB when nothing extra has been deleted.

I deleted 150MB Of apps yesterday and it still showed as having no space. In the pastry I have deleted one if my biggest storage users (~500MB) and still been told I have no space.

It's starting to piss me off a massive amount because I am deleting apps that although not strictly necessary I enjoy or are useful. I don't understand how the information I'm getting from my phone can be accurate.

If you connect to iTunes, how much shows as "other"?

And also you can’t just move all apps to an SD card.

On an 8GB storage, even if you want to install a new app that can be moved to an SD card you may have to uninstall one of the existing apps that can only reside on device storage before installing the new app move to SD card and then reinstall the old app back in.

A bit of a pain really.

I can't connect to iTunes at the moment, my laptop broke and I sent it back to the UK. I will be home in a month so can have a look then, and update the software to see if that has any effect.

I have cleared data on the app wechat today, earlier to said I have 40MB Free, now it's saying 3, not that I've done anything!!

When I've had this problem on android the solution has been to run App Cache Cleaner. I don't know whether that or a similar app is available from the appstore though.

My wife's 5C was exactly the same a couple of weeks ago. In the end I did a factory reset, and restored from icloud, which liberated 2.4 GB. However, that's now dropped to 1.8 GB free in a week, despite no new photos, and only a handful of Whatsapps and texts.

Before the reset it also suffered from this problem (consumed 300 megs of cellular data
in an afternoon while sat on the kitchen worktop !)

This probably isn't it but have you deleted the deleted pictures and videos?
When you delete them they just go into the deleted storage for a while (can't remember how long).
You have to delete those as well (bit like emptying the recycle bin or trash can on a PC).
Also as someone said, when you go to Settings/General/Storage &iCloud usage and the Manage Storage (under the STORAGE section, not ICLOUD), can you see where it is all being used?
For me this is always the Photos and Camera because I didn't empty the deleted photos.

In my case, I deleted the photos from the 'deleted' area (they were all tagged with 30 days left) and it made no difference as far as liberating any extra memory

The phone is still running ios8, I don't recall separate storage and icloud storage meters ? (I'm looking at my own iphone 6 on ios9 right now, and see them)

Related to this, I didn't see any difference until I refreshed the Storage settings page.
In fact i think I had to close settings in background apps and go in again before I saw a difference.

i had to reset my phone (just a soft(?) reset pressing down the home button and off button) after it frozen and after it turned back on there was a lot more space free... Now there's almost a GB, I don't know why but I won't question it haha.

Delete apps and reinstall as over time they build up a huge cache. I am talking about apps like Facebook etc. That should help.

Well this continues to be a massive pain in the Arsenal. Resetting my phone worked great until it got stuck on the apple logo. I then lost everything cause they had to completely wipe my phone and reinstall iOS.

The problem has now returned though and is as bad if not worse than before - the phone randomly resets itself on top of the problems I had before! I am talking to an apple support person now though - hopefully they will solve the issue! Though already we are finding more hurdles than solutions.

I've got a 16 GB iPhone 5S and, as much as I love the phone, the shortage of memory also frustrates me. I wish I had gone for the 32 GB model now, but my Mum talked me out of getting the more expensive model as it is my first mobile contract and I am only a student. As a result though, I will be getting a new phone when my contract runs out, yet if I had got the 32 GB version I might have been able to go on SIM only for a year to save money.

It's one thing I can't understand about Apple: Why sell 8 GB iPhone 5C's and 16 GB 5S's 6's 6S's etc? By the time you have lost storage because of the OS and even a few apps, you don't really have a lot left. I think I've got a couple of GB of music and just a bit less of photographs, yet I am always having to transfer my photos to my PC and delete them off my phone, and reinstall Facebook, Messenger and Twitter to clear the cache.

Why are they still selling 16 GB and then the next one up is 64 GB then 128 GB? What about 32 GB? Samsung start of 32 GB and Sony, LG and HTC sell 32 GB phones only and have a Micro SD Card slot. Samsung may also be bringing back a Micro SD Card slot on the Galaxy S7. It's unlikely that Apple will, but the smallest capacity phone they should sell is 32 GB in my opinion.
