Bed chewing
netcurtains
09-01-2016
My Lhasa apso and my shih tzu have eaten at least half a dozen dog beds in less than a year. I wake up every morning to stuffing across the floor. I've tried spraying them with bitter apple, made no difference. They've also destroyed three doormats, a rug, my hosepipe, shoes, plant pots, deck chairs etc Soft toys and balls last about five minutes before they're in bits and in the bin. Every time I gather up their poo there are bits of shoes, plant pots and christ knows what else in their poo. They just love to chew! I tried giving them antlers, tough kong toys but nah if the wee shites can't chew through something until it's dead they just leave it and go back to stuff that is easy to kill! They are 14mths old and I was hoping they would have grown out of it by now.
I don't know what advice I'm after really
Absolutely

One of my dogs chewed dog beds, so in the end she just got old blankets and old towels to sleep on. Now being older ( 3 yrs) she likes to sleep on the dog bed of my other dog sometimes, so I might try her with dog beds again.

I had a dog once who chewed everything, but it was only when about 4 mth and it stopped after a few mths, but he did chew through tel wire, couches, shoes and all sorts too. It was just after I leave the house, did not do it when I was present.
