It occured to me that debates about poets and who is the greatest of all time are usually poets that have passed away (Dylan Thomas, Oscar Wilde, Sylvia Plath etc) but who do you think is the greatest poet alive today ? just interested to see who people say, I asked someone on twitter this question and they said Beck Cooper, I checked out her work and while she is really not my cup of tea she is very popular. I do quite like James Clephane-Cameron but I'd like to see who is regarded by most as the best

I don't know about the greatest living poet but When I am an Old Woman I Will Wear Purple by Jackie Johnson is probably one of my favourite modern poems.

I like that one too, and I do - wear purple ! haven't got a stick yet, so I can't run it along the railings.
