I am looking for some advice on whether the Samsung A3 is better or worse than the S4 mini. I am looking for a small light phone

My needs are basic - making/receiving calls, and for reasons too complex to explain, occasionally recording noise/conversations. Until now I have had a Nokia 520, which has a very poor One Notes recording programme - which illuminates the screen so I cannot record secretly.

In particular, I want to know

-which phone has best call quality
-whether either phone can record conversations or surrounding noise (including bass) well
-if the phones have noise cancellation when recording, can it be disenabled

I am guessing that either of these phones would be as fast at the 520 Lumia, if not faster, but I use internet here and there, so its not really a big deal for me.
