I wondered about the non-driver's present of a car too. I had heard of sans permis from a recent 'From our Own Correspondent' on Radio 4 but didn't connect it.

Reminder Spin on More4 at 9pm.

Yep, Normandie is quite right. It was one of these he was given:

Not legal in the UK, but they have been around in France and other European countries for years. That one looks a lot smarter than they used to, but I agree the idea of someone like Kapita driving one around the high spots of Paris didn't seem very realistic. A motorbike would have been more in keeping with his lifestyle.

During the discussions about the debate six groupings were mentioned. Greens, Hard Left, Left Centrists, Right and Hard Right

From what I can gather Anne Visage is a Centrist or at least has the backing of that party but I can't work out whether Deleuvre is left and Marjorie is right or vice versa.

Also there seems to be two women with long dark hair working for Kapita but I'm not 100% sure which one of them is sleeping with Desmeuze and passing on information, is it Valentine the speechwriter?

Marjorie is on the left and Deleuvre the right. Kapita considered supporting Marjorie but decided Marjorie couldn't beat Deleuvre so he encouraged Visage to run.

You are quite right about Valentine, she is the speech writer and also the girl who is passionately in love with Desmeuze. Kapita set her up with the false story about helping Marjorie in the second round which she passed on to Desmeuze.

Something very similar happened in the the third series of Borgen

Different actress playing Appoline in second series. Two year gap in France.

Watched it on All 4, just more convenient for me. Rather sorry about the ending, but just read about the start of season 2 so I get the gist.

Sorry I'm old fashioned I wanted to scream to get a shave and put a tie on FFS. And never trusted that Valentine from the start.

As a general comment I am finding the Walter section on All 4 pretty entertaining, especially the stuff they are not broadcasting across the 4 network. Though I will admit the show they here plugging at the moment Kabul Kitchen I lasted exactly half one episode. Just not my taste.

I suggest trying Lens pretty good though I thought it was perhaps unintentionally funny. But I'm weird.

Yes, I agree. It makes a change from seeing Scandi drama (though I loved Borgen and The Killing). Actually I'm quite surprised no-one seems to have mentioned the Walter section. I watched 10. It was funny how that turned out. Lens was next on my list - now I will watch it with your recommendation. Thanks
As for Kabul Kitchen, I dunno, there is something about ME comedy that somehow gets lost in translation for me, lol.

The spin doctors are the puppet-masters in this. I qwonder how realistic that is.

Does Ludovic Desmeuze have any scruples at all?

The president's headaches, blurred vision and a collapse. Not good.

When the second series started I was confused about the the different actress playing Appoline and wondered to start with who she was. I am sure another actress is playing his daughter too. Poor Kapita must be confusing for him too.

I was a bit miffed when the lovely Grégory Fitoussi was killed off in Spiral but I realise now it was for him to play Ludovic

Same actress playing the daughter, just a lot more grown up.

The dead sexy Aure Atika (Gabrielle), even at 43, makes this so worthwhile.

As I said on another thread, great start but they really should think about continuing with the double-bills instead of single eps and FGS reduce the bloody ads!”

I've just started watching my recordings of Spin and thought the PM looked like Gerard Houllier

She's also in the new BBC1 Sunday night serial, The Night Manager, speaking very good English too!

It was one of those rare funny moments in this when Gabrielle's little lad said "Hello President" as he breezed in...

This continues to entertain, Gabrielle gets a lot of screen time. Can we expect some "goings on" between her and Kapita?
The President's wife, still seems to be a bit of a loose cannon.

Sufferers of Bi Polar disorder can be very much loose cannons,See how she almost went off with the guy in the bar when she had some drink down her ?
Hope Gabrielle and Kapita get it together ,it's obvious they fancy each other.

This is very enjoyable stuff - when watching an episode the time flies by and finally I am bang up to date.

I never knew that there were so many attractive women in French political life though!

I have finally caught up with this on All4 in time for the series finale on Friday! I've really enjoyed it all. Has everyone else given up (no recent posts)??

Brilliant, isn't it? I don't know much about the French political system but it's still a great story and I love all the plotting.

There has been talk of a third series but I don't know whether it's happening or not.

I have not given up - I really enjoy the series, it is very compelling stuff.

But I now have the final six episodes of Trapped to catch up on as well.
