Big brother used to be the king of reality tv and stars were created and obtained opportunities .
Geordie shore and TOWIE are these days where the stars are created , they use big brother as on opportunity to top up the bank balance due to the large uk profile these people have.
Nothing has really changed it just that big brother is further down the pecking order these days although some people still think Bb is above these shows it's not, it's just the roles are reversed

100% agree. There are many intelligent, hard working and/or talented young people out there in the arts, sport or just building careers who deserve respect and admiration and yet the ones put out there as 'celebs' are the ones who pander to the lowest common denominator. Shallow little lives of driving and putting it about but it's considered ok because they've got more money than the rest of us.

Fair points on the bigger picture, but that doesn't really change the fact that the guys a complete idiot, who treats women like objects. The issue I have is with shows like Geordie Shore even being funded in the first place - they're bad news and send out the wrong message to our society.
Other reality stars from these sort of shows hold themselves much better than this guy does. As much as I think someone like 'Mark Wright' from TOWIE is a knob too, at least he has a bit of class about him and actually is exceptionally good looking, so one can't help but slightly nod their head in respect a little as he's just doing his thing.

Geordie shore is suspect turns over millions for MTV I suspect these days 1.25mllion viewers for a satellite channel is huge.

Do you think if GS didn't exist Scotty T would be doing anything worthwhile with his life? I doubt it. He'd be doing the exact same thing he is now, only difference is he wouldn't be getting paid for it.
The very reason he was plucked from obscurity by GS is because he is an absolute idiot. He's not playing the part of idiot for the benefit of GS, they just happen to be filming him being an idiot.

I suppose he treats women like disposable items because that's what they are to him. He travels across the country for PA's and will likely never see a girl again so he has one night stands left, right & centre. I'm not saying it's right but these girls know that's all they're ever going to get from him so it's a two-way thing.
You're right that these shows send out the wrong message but that's entertainment for you. Marnie from GS got engaged and (rumour has it) she was told by MTV that she had to choose between the show or her fiancé. They just did not want her on the show in a serious relationship which goes to show the cast are encouraged to have these one night stands.
Scotty hasn't really been shown to be fair but he at least helps out around the house. He's a big fan of cooking and cleaning so at the very least isn't lording it up in there and asking to be waited on hand and foot.
