I have noticed while watching Netflix on my Fire Tv box that there are black bars along the top and bottom. Last night I watched The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian. It displayed the black bars through Netflix but when I checked the same movie through Amazon Prime, the full full screen was used. Does anyone know why this would be the case with the same movie?

I expect they're from different distributors and Amazon have a 16:9 TV version.

The Amazon version is 2h 23m, whilst Netflix's is 2h 30m.

Similar with Luther. Seasons one and two are the cut for advert breaks BBC America version on both services, with DD5.1 sound.

For season three, Amazon are showing the UK full-length version in stereo, and Netflix the US cut down version.

Sounds as if Amazon Prime are showing it in the incorrect ratio as black bars should be normal for widescreen films with an aspect ration of 2.39:1 on a 16:9 tv screen.
