Smallest smartphone - any suggestions ?

Hi

I am looking for a small light smartphone. Read through previous forum postings and saw Xiaomi, WileyFox, Moto recommended on price/value for money, but I am looking for something lightweight and ideally compact to be on pay monthly, not to purchase outright

The smallest/ok-ish phone I came across were Samsung A3 (weight 110gm) or Samsung S4 mini (107gm). Is there anything better than those you can recommend?

Really would appreciate any otger options. Thanks. Candybar phones dont do appss, otherwise would have gone for one of them...

I have been searching for exactly the same thing. Not found one though. I have just bought a Samsung S4 mini. It is not really mini at all. Just normal size, but not huge like the current trend for smartphones seems to be.

If you change your mind about not buying outright. Have a look at the oneplus x or nexus 5

Nexus 5 should be cheap enough now that the new nexus 5x is out

Sony Z Compact series - relatively small phones and they don't get stingy on the specs because it's the smaller version of the flagship! The Z1 Compact can be bought pretty cheaply secondhand, and the Z3 Compact for a similar price to the Samsung A3 with much better specs too.

Thanks for the comments. I think weight is a big point for me, theNexus, one plus x etc are fairly heavier.

I think all considered it looks like its the Samsung A3, nothing compact enough to better it. Its the phone my network is offering to upgrade me to.

I've just purchased a Z3 compact for £205. It's without doubt the best smaller phone on the market and it's at a great price now.

It's a great design, packed with top features. Expandable memory and waterproof.

Get a lanyard or case though because it's as slippery as hell.

The Samsung A3 doesn't really get good reviews. BTW.

Meanwhile I'd like to suggest to the OP that they install a telephone box in their garden. It's not small, it's not even mobile, but it'd be awesome too.

The Iphone 5c/5s is pretty small, and still available on contract.

There are still plenty of 4 inch ndroid phones at the budget end of the market, see for example

Ive got a nokia700. Smallest smartphone ever made. Nice, does eveything i want, but uses the now defunct Symbian operating system.

My 700 has uc browser, opera mini browser v12 which has direct internet mode (no server), piscel smart office, book and pdf readers etc. Nokia maps now defunct but other map apps work fine ......

Yes, my wife had one, pile of underpowered cack in my opinion, and what finally killed it was an Andriod update

The Pulse Mini was exactly 100 grams with a 3" screen.

The low Ram, like with the xperia, meant you had to dump the standard Rom for a modded one ASAP.
I still make use of it, but for practicality, the S4 Mini sounds right.

If you want a talking point, maybe seek out a Canvas Silver 5.

I had the full size X10. I got it because it had a big screen - 4.1" or 4.2" I think. Now that would be seen as a very small handset indeed. In fact I couldn't imagine using a phone so small.

Nokia700 "Worlds smallest smartphone" is Nokia claim, on original release, possibly true at the time, and quoted in several reviews.

Microsoft is still updating SOME apps for various Symbian phones, eg whatsapp, and retaining others, because it's still selling existing Symbian "feature phones" in places like Africa, India, etc. So updates to older Symbian 2 or 3 apps will of course also work on last version (Anna Belle) Symbian etc .....

The 808 has a nice camera, but of course is bigger and heavier than the 700.

Ok im wrong about nokia maps. Was just going by news reports etc. Nokia maps isn't something I would normally use anyway, and I used an alternative the 2 or 3 times I needed a map.

Android is probably a better idea if you need specific Apps, and yes there are some very small android handsets.
