Agreed, and btw yours was the only post on the interminable "Who is responsible for Chrissie's transformation" thread that made any sense whatsoever and really should have killed that thread stone dead.

Yeah the stories aren't looking so great at the moment and with those spoilers that Kwynne posted its not looking so great.

Actually, tbf, if they hadn't tied down poor gorgeous Kerry to DesperatelyDullDan and forced Dross into undying luurve for Debola Virus, I think they'd be a pretty good match.

All too true, it'll probably end up just being a plot device though.

Oh LOL! Well I've got no problem people discussing it if it's that fascinating, but the real answer to why Chrissie has gone full Cruella is because that's what they need to do to make the next bit of PLOT work.

Lol, but it's like you pointed out - what possible point can there be of analysing each character's motives to the nth degree as if their actions were all part of some well thought out, intricately developed long term storyline when we now all know that the storyliners clearly just scribble down this week's plot on the back of a fag packet before retiring back to the pub?

I sometimes briefly stare fascinatedly at them, very much in the same way I briefly stare fascinatedly at creatures in a zoo.

Well that's not very nice.
Though to be fair I don't know how it didn't kill that thread stone dead.

I'm sure the writers DO think its all well thought out long term storyline heh

Once agai I don't think things are as bad as being made out at least 1 episode in 10 is quite good sometimes 2

Of course less double episode would ease pressure on the writers who are probably run ragged

So guess what there are 2 double eps this week including tonight.

Chrissie 2.0 was not well thought out

And the quality has gone down. Even my mom noticed who only watches occasionally when I'm over her house. Last week she asked me if the show had got new writers cuz she noticed it has changed and not for the good.

Before DS I had no idea who the producer was, had no idea the tone changed when new EP's took over, all the episodes looked the same to me and quite often still does, some storylines were good and some not as good I certainly didn't analyse to the nth degree like as now, I didn't watch Corrie Or Eastenders for years and didn't feel I was missing anything and didn't realise I had to have strong opinions on every character or storyline so I would need to discuss it endlessly I just watched to be entertained, hard to believe now I guess

I sometimes miss those innocent long gone days heh

Yeah I get what you're saying. But my mom had no clue they had a change in producer and she is just a casual viewer. Now i don't think the change has been as drastic or as bad as I've seen in some of the US soaps but there has been a dip in quality IMHO. I think the show is till watchable, I watched Megan McTavish and Jill Farren Phelps wreak havoc on All My Children and One Life To Live and I doubt Iain MacLeod will get as bad as those two did.

Soaps have gone up and down in quality since they have been on air, trouble is all the soaps are downish at the moment

Chrissie has always been a bit waspish but she felt her son and her was under attack so went to defence Mode and then took it too far which is what Chrissie 2.0 is.

That is true but sometimes they do have their highs and lows but there becomes a point when the damage cannot be undone but I don't think Emmerdale is anywhere near that state. I don't think all the soaps are down at the moment, Hollyoaks is on a real upswing and I think Corrie is pretty good.

Coronation street is a shadow of its former self in recent years imo. ED is good consistently but when it's great it's first-class, so when it ticks along it seems it's a bit "meh"

Try and work out who the resident thread troll is, every thread of that type has at least one.

Yeah I think you're right about Emmerdale and its kind of in the meh stage right now the only story that is keeping me interested is Belle, although Robert bringing down Chrissie has the potential to be great.
