I think the reason she and Mike Parr have been on screen so little this year is that they have both done a British film due to be released next year.
I did not know that! Nice one. I knew Mike Parr did an Everest trek for charity. He seems like a proper stand up guy.

Charlotte Bellamy, John Middleton, the one who plays Tracy's father and Jeff Hordley I think are good. Charley Webb a no no from me.

Yes I saw that and thought the same. Five mornings a week live on the radio in Manc and then shooting over to Leeds for ED filming every afternoon? It's not really sustainable long term I wouldn't have thought.
No and it surely won't be long before scheduling conflicts arise and she is let go at the end of her contract.
Which is a crying shame because the character could have been really quite good if she hadn't shacked up with Marlon and the actress is natural.

The Hooded Frank. That's a good one.

It's been absolutely fab having John McArdle back on my screen - how has he been so underused all these years? I think he's done a fantastic job with a fairly underwritten part - until recently, anyway.

I agree about ranking though - ED really doesn't have "stars" - it's an ensemble, and it works really well like that. Which is why I think sometimes it feels so irritating when they shove someone to the front and centre when there are others who are just as good who don't get the material.

Well, congrats to her. Sounds like we might see even less of Carly though. Maybe even she realised the storyline with Marlon was pants. Shame, because she was one of my favourite arrivals the last couple of years, but they haven't made very good use of her.
TBH I would find it easier to pick out the ones who I think let the side down On the whole I think they're very good. Often it's the character or the story rather than the actor. For instance I find Marlon really annoying but I think that's the part the actor has been given to play.

The actor who plays Tracey's father is Michael Praed. I remember him in 'Dynasty' many years ago. I agree that he's a great actor, I enjoy his scenes, never know what he's going to say or do next. Also I think he's a rather dashing silver fox

Throw in an honourable mention for Tom Atkinson as well, he's been brilliant as Lachlan.
Yes! Agreed-hes very good for a youngster. He should have been on my list

I agree, he's great and I admire him for taking on the role particularly with regard to the sexual abuse storyline. It would be hard for an adult actor let alone a teenager.

Oh well – it looks like Moira is to become the latest victim to the plotline “drunk-woman-creates-soap-drama”

First we had Vanessa – a drunken one night stand with Adam (a character she’d barely shared a scene with previously) ensured a huge who’s-the-daddy storyline with much angst & drama along the way.

Then, of course, we had the ubiquitous Laurel – a woman whose drinking led to alcoholism and all the degrading aspects that it brings – having your father finding you drunk & piss soaked on the sofa, having a one night stand with a stranger giving you an STD and ultimately, killing your husband’s beloved pet dog during a drink-driving scenario

Then, of course, we have Kerry – a drunken one-night stand with Ross which led to the break-up of her relationship with Dan – her subsequent drunkenness saw her breaking in to her place of work and causing mayhem, undoubtedly, with more consequences to come……

Next up – we have Bernice – getting drunk and kissing her brother-in-law – an act which has currently led to the disintegration of her sisters relationship.

Not content with adult females & their drunken behaviour, we next get teenage Gabby & Liv. With Gabby now having become an internet sensation with her naked dance across the cricket field and the subject of bullying & humiliation.
Bizarrely, Liv – who went on to steal more alcohol after this event, now finds herself being treated to a brand new home by her gay surrogate parents (lucky her eh!)

Next up was Chas – a drunken afternoon with her ex & suddenly the whole village is agog at the prospect of them getting back together.

Now – according to Xmas spoilers – it seems Moira is next for the “drunk-woman-creates-drama” for this increasingly paint-by-numbers-&-recycle-cliched-scenarios soap, as she
Spoiler

So – I guess the question is………………………………………who’s next for the “drunk-woman-creates-drama” plotline

Sadly, sheepie,I think even the writers know that their sls are so utterly implausible and unrealistic, the only thing they can think of to add even the tiniest bit of credibility to them is to have the character drunk as a skunk and hence more likely to do something stupid/out of character.

Heaven knows why they always pick on the women to be the drunks though.

To be fair Cain got fou' and nearly sh@gged Charity Then went on a 3 week bender and got brought home in shame by PC Swirling after a night in the drunk cells

Binge drinking seems out of character for Moira though. It would have been better if they had shown her cracking in some other way.

For me it' s Jeff Hordley, John Middleton ( both equal top)and John McArdle, and of the women Natalie J Robb, Gillian Kearney and Charlotte Bellamy - all equally good.

I don't know if it ' s the character but Danny/ Aaron is just so awkward in his scenes with Robert. He is good but I wouldn't t rate him in the top 3!
Your choices are exactly the same as mine.

Morning Oldnjaded

In the old days they had they had Shadrach and Seth to equalise all the drunken women.

Isn't it the case that Laurel is different to the others because hers was a actual Alcoholic storyline rather than there to cause a bit of Drama.?

Morning kwynne. Yes, fair point - Laurel is a different thing altogether.

The Bartons love their drinking "under the influence" dont they? Adam knocked Kerry down while drunk. Holly had a crash after driving on drugs and now Moira is joining in the family tradition

Analysis of Emmerdale Characters

1) Before I get onto more decent storylines and characters I must officially declare I have joined the anti Tracy camp. She is here just to bore us with rubbish storylines and to make up the numbers, I used to like her but now I don't.

2) David see above for same reasons

3) Laurel dear perhaps Hugging the Moron in full view of Ashley was very stupid indeed, poor man is confused enough without reminding him of the other worst part of his life.

4) Go away Moron you are not need here

5) Poor Ashley he's having an awful time, and very scared about never knowing what's really going on, not helped by Laurel being stupid, no wonder he got angry and went walkabout. Did no one in the hospital stop the confused looking man in pajamas .

6) Diane they gave you one job.

7)Moira well on the way to ending up a wino drinking on a park bench somewhere, has completely cracked up from grief.

8) Nice to see Charity even though she did appear to be more pregnant than the actress expecting twins standing right next to her.

9) Pete and Leyla make such a tepid couple, chemistry free.

10) Bernice tried to make up with her sister heaven knows why.

11) Nicola dear why are you looking after all of Jimmy's kids.

12) Zak didn't want to be santa what a scrooge.

13) Lisa - shut up Lisa

14) Rishi couldn't you do better than Zak for santa?

Ways how to shut up Brenda. no,1123

The men with the white coats thinks she's mad and section her and lock her up in a straightJacket in a padded room where she can chatter boringly to her hearts content with harming anyone else's ears

BIB: Hurrayyyyyy!

Mind you, if they hadn't plastered her stupid pointless face all over the show constantly for the last few months, maybe you wouldn't have had to get sick of her.

I am currently plotting to blow up the shop and all who sail in her. Also the pirate ship.
