Analysis of Emmerdale crappier episodes

1) When the best part of an episode is Jimmy and Nicola trying and failing to be romantic and just being icky you know your in real trouble

2) Now I know the singles thing was rubbish but those who said it wouldn't happen on a thurdsay afternoon, not entirely right, since there was a similar thing on at the Ship Hotel in Irlam on Wednesday afternoon but knowing that place it would have been done much better.

3) Who is Irina or Olga or whatever the hell she is called.

4) And where did sleazy punchbug Tommy come from anyway.

5) Even by her own lowly standards Kerry was spectacularly awful this Episode, the actress is awful at the best of times and these aren't the best of times, she's right down with AAron badness now

6) Dear Emmerdale viewers plead witth Ex Hollyoaks to sack Kerry Actress on the spot character never does anything worthwhile, never has and never will other than irritating the viewers why are you keeping this character

7) Joanie's only a bit better than Kerry and you can't go around hitting people

8) Charity now appears to be 14 months pregnant

9) Kasim tried to escape the show at least 3 times this episode but he kept falling over his hair so didn't manage it

10 Finn- so needy

11) Emma doesn't like Leyla, that makes quite a lot of us

12) Rebecca is the only good thing about this epsiode

Ways how to fire Ex Hollyoaks

He produces an episode entirely filled with Tracy, Brenda, Kerry, Joannie, frank Finn and Kasim and even ITV realise all is lost
BIB - yep!

Happy new year all

The Emmerdale Kwynnie awards

Best new Character Rebecca - possibly the only good new Character
Worst New Character = Frank and Kasim
Worst Female Character Kerry, Joanie was in contention for a long time
Worst Male Character Aaron

Worst overall Character can't split Kerry and Aaron

Best Male Character Ashley
Best Female Character Belle for her mental health Storyline

Worst storyline - it was nearly Jimmy and Nicola this Christmas or the Tracy/David wedding but anything with Kerry or Aaron in it
Best Storyline Ashley sad Dementia decline

Worst episode h'mm difficult this one there were so many
Best episode The recent Ashley POV episode with a shout out to big disaster week.

Worst Producer Ex hollyoaks for keeping Tracy, Kerry and Joanie around so far past their sell by dates they are stinking the show out.

Emmerdale is woeful this past week but calling for Iain MacCleod's sacking is ridiculous IMO, on the whole he's given ED a good year. I far prefer him to Kate Oates. She was terrible at ED but is doing better at Corrie.

1. couldn't agree more.

5. Don't you dare insult Danny Miller like that! He is one of the greatest soap actors of all time!!!!

6. Kerry isn't the problem, its ex-Hollyoaks, Kerry was fine under Kate Oates.

7. Exactly, and Kerry came on to that guy and was all up for going to his van, even talking about how she hoped the suspension was good, so she got what she deserved from him IMHO.

8. Yes and Chas still has no sign of a baby bump.

I disagree, MacLeod gives a few good episodes then we get stuck with weeks of crap, he focuses on characters no one likes, like Kerry and Tracy and has Nicola and Jimmy doing the same exact story ever week. Kate Oates had her faults but the show was much better under her and I find Corrie to be miles ahead of Emmerdale these days.

The characters you mentioned don't really bother me as its likely that in the future they wont get as much screen time. Its a particular couple that I cant stand that is putting me off watching the show long term.

The characters I really can't stand are Robert, Aaron, Zak, Chrissie and Jai.

I'm 100% in favour of Robert going psycho again and killing all of them, then he kill himself. Give him and Aaron the Romeo and Juliet ending, after all its a tragic love story isn't it? zzzzzzzzz

Its not just about the characters its more so what he's doing with them. I had no issues with Kerry when Kate Oates was in charge, MacLeod has turned her into a self absorbed drunken thot that sleeps with anything with an eggplant. He has also ruined Charity's return, the once reigning HBIC became Cain's desperate doormat and when she isn't letting Cain walk all over her she is throwing shade while serving drinks at the pub, Charity deserves better than that. Then there is Jimmy and Nicola, who no doubt were suffering under Oates but what we have now is the same BS every week, Jimmy does something stupid, Nicola gets mad, they break up for 2 episodes then reunite, its tired old and boring. Also the comedy stuff is just crap, all the costume parties, the stupid singles night, Rishi dressing up as a blue berry, its all not funny. The only thing going right on the show ATM is Ashley's story.

Couldn't agree more. I've noticed that under Ian Macleod, storylines will reach a key point and then be forgotten about for a few weeks so that the likes of Kerry and other secondary characters get their share of the screentime. The Emma story is a good example of this, the interesting story about Emma plotting against Moira has suddenly been dropped, there was no aftermath to the time where she meddled with Moira's freezer. That could've developed into an interesting and complex slow burner story, but instead it's just ended with no satisfying conclusion.

It's obvious Ian is trying to give the lesser characters more of a central role in the show, and it could work if he did better and in a more subtle fashion, rather than forcing them down the viewers throats all of a sudden. Was there even any point to Kerry's abortion she had a few months ago? It was over and forgotten about so quickly, and had no long term effect on any character. TPTB could've ran the exact same storyline (Kerry sleeping with Ross, Dan finding out and breaking up wit her etc) but without adding the pregnancy in, because it had absolutely no effect on the long term storyline. It was just shoehorned in for "Omg Kerry is pregnant, who is the daddy?!" headline grabbing.

As for Robron, I used to like them but I went off them in the new year because of the crappy, unimaginative and contrived writing that they were given. It completely trashed them for me.

You're right he is trying to give B list characters more screen time and he's failing miserably at it, meanwhile Kate Oates is doing the same on Corrie by giving Mary a story line but it has worked much better because Oates hasn't forced Mary down our throats or turned her into an unlikable character like MacLeod has done with Kerry.

I really hate that phrase. This is a British soap, not an American sports team or film.

Talking of Emmerdale Past, today is the birthday of Kirsty-Leigh Porter, formerly Roz in Emmerdale. As she is now in Hollyoaks, I have wished her a happy birthday in today's Hollyoaks thread.

I don't think they should be categorised like that, but the bigger characters IMO are Ross, Aaron, Robert, Cain, Debbie, Moira etc...

Analysis of Emmerdale Characters Shortish version

1) Finn - needy stalker type is the image of his mother

2) Kasim finally escaped from the burning but badly acted intensity of Finn

Sidebar
Seriously Ex Hollyoaks stop giving proper storylines to Z List actors, you have quite a lot of talent in your team use them instead and stay away from Joanie, Finn Tracy and Kerry and their like

3) Rebecca and Chrissie squabbling like teenagers

4) Lawrence threatening to sell the house and throw them out for the 10 millionth time

5) On the busiest night of the year for Taxi drivers no Barton was bothering

6) Joanie punched a police man by soap law she will be sent down for 10 years while murderers got off Scott free

7) Kerry as if they would let you near Kyle Alone

8) Tracy that Vase is going to smell really soon.

Being New Years Eve and i'm in a good mood so I won't be calling for any characters death today or try and fire Ex Hollyoaks.

Happy new year everyone

He would definitely take my mind off most things.

Yeah, why have they turned Finn into a needy creeper? He never was before.

Finn's going to turn into his Mum!
Probably.

Must admit, I lasted about 6.5 minutes last night. I am rapidly losing patience with Emmerdale, it doesn't even mildly distract me any more. Plus the sight of Tracy's endlessly annoying big face just made me want to smash things.

TOTP was a much better option.
