Then there is Jimmy and Nicola, who no doubt were suffering under Oates but what we have now is the same BS every week, Jimmy does something stupid, Nicola gets mad, they break up for 2 episodes then reunite, its tired old and boring. Also the comedy stuff is just crap, all the costume parties, the stupid singles night, Rishi dressing up as a blue berry, its all not funny. The only thing going right on the show ATM is Ashley's story.”
Couldn't agree more. I've noticed that under Ian Macleod, storylines will reach a key point and then be forgotten about for a few weeks so that the likes of Kerry and other secondary characters get their share of the screentime. The Emma story is a good example of this, the interesting story about Emma plotting against Moira has suddenly been dropped, there was no aftermath to the time where she meddled with Moira's freezer. That could've developed into an interesting and complex slow burner story, but instead it's just ended with no satisfying conclusion.
It's obvious Ian is trying to give the lesser characters more of a central role in the show, and it could work if he did better and in a more subtle fashion, rather than forcing them down the viewers throats all of a sudden. Was there even any point to Kerry's abortion she had a few months ago? It was over and forgotten about so quickly, and had no long term effect on any character. TPTB could've ran the exact same storyline (Kerry sleeping with Ross, Dan finding out and breaking up wit her etc) but without adding the pregnancy in, because it had absolutely no effect on the long term storyline. It was just shoehorned in for "Omg Kerry is pregnant, who is the daddy?!" headline grabbing.
As for Robron, I used to like them but I went off them in the new year because of the crappy, unimaginative and contrived writing that they were given. It completely trashed them for me.
