Lol, it would've taken them about a half an hour to put together a hamper for them and it's not exactly difficult to catch a box that's about half a foot away from you, so there will definitely have been a hamper ready for them.
If disobeying the rules only affects you, you're probably less bothered 'cos you'll take the punishment in return for being able to break the rules. But if it causes the other housemates to resent you, then you've got a much bigger incentive not to break the rules. I don't think it particularly will in this case, but that's the idea behind it.
