An artist I had learned to have much more respect for as I got older,

Well thats a shock. I admit i'm not a fan of his music but still, i'm surprised hadn't heard he had cancer.
Its difficult to know what to say but i think the fact people like me who aren't fans can name songs by him says it all really.
