David Bowie's first wife Angie Bowie has decided to stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house after learning of his death off camera.

CBB said Ms Bowie was told "by her representatives" and opted to continue to participate in the reality programme, which otherwise excludes the celebrity members from news of the outside world.
"The decision to remain in the house is entirely her choice, and she has been given the option to leave at any time if she changes her mind," the programme confirmed.

"Appropriate support will be available to Angie at any time if needed.”

Thanks.
Hope she has someone she can talk to.

She's been given "the option" to leave at any time? Are the others prisoners or something?

i imagine she won't have the typical "sleep on it" response if she asks to leave.

I would take that to mean she can keep her fee and not walk away from it.

Compassionate grounds probably related to her fee ie. she won't be penalised if she does decide to leave.

Under the circumstances that was the only possible option they could do

Although she may be a bit more subdued from today which is understandable, and will fade into the background

Ah, yes. You are probably right. I wonder though, since her representatives spoke to her off camera, if she was given any feedback on how she's coming across?

I'm staggered she's decided to remain in the house. Granted they been divorced for years and her son has no contact with her but she seems to live her life owing to the fact she was once married to David. If she went into the house to "up her profile" then this is not the right way to proceed.

RIP David, a true star who will never be forgotten

I have no idea about her personal life, but maybe she is using this as a distraction and because she doesn't want to be alone to think about things. She may have not seen him in decades, but what was once a big part of her life has just died and that is always very sad.

I'm not quite sure what she expects to gain by staying in the house.

She's going to have to be VERY careful about what she chooses to say about her time with him and her opinions of their son because of what has happened. I can imagine that comments similar to the ones she has voiced over the past few days about both of them won't be seen in the same light anymore.

It it was me, I wouldn't have left .... why would she have to leave? Don't understand. I certainly wouldn't make any alternative plans if my ex husband died that's for sure.

Exactly. I personally feel that the Big Brother house is not the place to be after this very very sad event, does she not have a family and friends outside of the house who would be of greater comfort?

Wow she's only just been told and will be in shock. Let her deal with it her way. There's no right way.

I think she is in a difficult position of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" tbh. They have been divorced for over 30 years, their parting was bitter and their son is allegedly estranged from her. If she had left, people would call her a hypocrite or say she was using David's death to milk sympathy - if she stays she appears unfeeling or using David's death to gain sympathy re nominations and public voting.

Maybe she has decided leaving would expose her to unwanted attention at a time she would rather not have it and if she feels no immediate need to be outside at least she is in a "safe" environment.

I'm not surprised to be honest. She hasn't seen her son since he was in his teens apparently and she & David had an acrimonious split. She won't be invited to the funeral, she has no relationship with her son...what difference would it have made if she left the house? She doesn't seem the type to be bothered about what the public will think of her.

I have just been on twitter and here is no pleasing some people

She has decided to stay and some are calling her disrespectful but if she had decided to leave those same people would be calling her a hypocrite as they haven't spoken in years.

We were not part of that relationship so don't know what went on so just give the woman a break and respect her decision.

I feel she is being very brave in deciding to stay but maybe after some thought she may decide to leave. It is her choice, there is no right or wrong way.

Exactly. People can't seem to understand the fact she has had no contact with the guy for 40 YEARS. What would she do on leaving? Her son hasn't spoken to her since he was 14 and is highly unlikely to start now.

Her decision to stay on course in the house is entirely logical. It would be more odd if she left over this.

Its not for any of us to judge how anyone else chooses to grieve or pass the time following a death

Agreed. It will take a while to sink in, even more so since she's in a weird environment. She could well feel the need to get out soon. Her decision should be respected either way.
