Help with freezing meat

Hi

This may seem like a very stupid question.

I've bought a box of fresh chicken thighs, on the box it says once opened use within 24 hours. However I'm planning on using the chicken for two meals later in the week. I've opened up the box and portioned up the chicken in to freezer bags and put in the freezer.

Is this ok? It's the use within 24 hours after opening that I'm unsure about

I've been doing that sort of thing for years, not dead yet.

They'll be fine. If when you're using it is still within the use by date on the pack then I wouldn't even freeze it, I'd just wrap the open pack in cling film and put it back in the fridge.

All those "once opened use within" things are a load of rubbish. Even ketchup says it! I've a jar of jalapeņos in the fridge that says use within 14 days, I've had them months and they're fine.
