connecting my equipment
Drathro

I have the following pieces of kit.

Panasonic TV - TX32DTx1

Panasonic DVDrec - DMRE85H

Panasonic SVHS - Nv HS8 3oB

Sony home theatre - HTK215

Pace - Sky+

can anyone tell me the best way to connect them all together?

the svhs will only be used for backing up old tapes to dvd.

most important is the best quality dvd recordings and a good picture on the tv.

Hi Dathro, we have almost identical set ups and i will give you the benefit of my experiences:

this set up incorporates flexibility as well as quality. A failing of my E55 (may be the same on the 85) is that it will not pass through the Sky+ signal if you were (say) recording from VCR to DVDR.

I got round this by connecting my Sky+ to the E55 using Svideo and the Sky+ TV out (RGB) to the TV AV1 (RGB).

This allows viewing of Sky+ while recording on to DVDr from VCR/2nd DVD etc.

If you dont require this (think carefully about your requirements) then the classic set up is:

VCR svideo ---> DVDR AV4 (Svideo)
Sky+ TV scart ---> DVDR AV2 (RGB)
DVDR AV1 ---> TV AV1 (RGB)

DVDR must be in standby or set to AV2 to allow Sky+ viewing (I think this is too inflexible).

I would recommend the following:

Sky+ TV scart ---> TV AV1 (RGB)
Sky+ SVideo ---> DVDR AV4 (SVideo)
DVDR AV1 ---> TV AV2 (if RGB use it or SVideo)
VCR AV1 ---> DVDR AV2 (SVideo)
