I just think the 'timing' of the Angie booking was no accident. BB have no shame in their quest for controversy.”

Well, if they knew, so did Angie. She obviously has her price, and was also willing to be in the limelight knowing this could very well happen during her stint in CBB.

I do totally agree with your first paragraph.

The thing is though, those ten years, although thirty years ago, were a hugely defining part of her life. I truly can relate to how she could be feeling.

I don't buy the conspiracy theory. If a close friend like Brian Eno wasn't aware how close the end was it is unlikely BB or Angie did.

It's not a conspiracy.

Apparently people in the industry knew he was terminally ill - it was common knowledge he was releasing an album. No one knew he;'d die in the middle of BB but there was always a chance.

They hedged their bets - it kind of paid off.

From what I've read only close friends and family knew he even had cancer, I wasn't aware the whole industry knew.

As a widow myself, I can relate to this too. Some chapters of your life can never be erased

What is more whne a former partner dies, much like the death of a parent it touches all sorts of nerves that have nothing to do with how much you cared for that person or not.

It brings you nose to nose with your own mortality. It provokes thoughts of what might have been and what will now never be again. It can unleash nostalgic thoughts or open old wounds. The range of ifs, buts and ands are almost too numberous to contemplate. There is so much potentially going on in the head of someone when someone in their circle passes.

And big brother isn't ALREADY a sorry spectacle? I think BB fans who are moaning are hypocritical. Plus she would have given her permission. End of thread.

Paul Gambaccini (and someone else who I can't remember) said it was known within the industry. I think something like that is hard to keep totally private.

We have heard absolutely NOTHING of Angie Bowie for years - I thought it was a really random choice of HM - is it just more than mere coincidence?

Very, very true - when my sisters ex husband died it unleashed all sorts of emotions in the entire family. Opened up a lot of wounds too.

Makes you think about it.

Makes a change from character assassination for ratings.

I have no real thoughts on this either way. Neither Channel 5 nor Mrs Bowie can probably believe their luck publicity wise.

I think so, but it appears to mostly be people who complain about shows they continue to watch anyway. My mother phones me up after each episode to complain about the amount of sex and violence in that disgusting show Game of Thrones, I tell her she doesnt have to watch and she says she does because she wants to know what is going to happen next.

Yes Penny, Paul Gambaccini did say that, also, the musical director of Lazarus has known for the past year. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone in Channel 5 knew too.

I heard someone being interviewed about David on Sky News yesterday (can't remember who it was now) and he said it was known within the industry that David had cancer.

BB know exactly what they're doing.”

More like Angle knows once David had passed away she would have no claim to fame. So went on the show before, knowing he was ill. Really don't think anyone tried to time it to coincide with his death. Although I totally disagree with them making a promo of her hearing the news.

She knew he was ill? And should that stop her going on the show?

I think she probably did, no not saying that should of stopped her going on, but since he is her main claim to fame I think she went in knowing he wouldn't be around for alot longer. Not judging her or anyone else, just disagreeing with those saying that her or big brother tried to time it to coincide with David's death.

What you think she picked up the phone to BB and asked to go on the show?

BB obviously asked her and I've no doubt she jumped at the chance. I don't think you can invite yourself onto BB.

Wow well if she did that's cunning.

I doubt she went on with the desire to feed off his death/illness. Perhaps she went on because she wanted to be known for herself..
