Stephanie was saying how much she missed her boyfriend and got upset that scenes with her and Jeremy might be misconstrued. Scotty said to Megan that Stephanie was only upset because she was finding the temptation of Jeremy too much - ie she wants him really. I think!
No great fan of Scotty but he may be silly but he's not dumb, he knows how to get publicity + can see she's playing his friend for her own ends.

I think what's happening here is that he's getting a disproportionate amount of praise because he's started out from a very very low level indeed.
He's stated the obvious and we're treating him like he's just written a philosophy thesis. It's like being amazed at a dog that has learnt how to do complicated tricks. Impressive for a dog, but it's still a dog and incredibly thick when compared to average human intelligence.
