evey single news show and tribute show currently airing over various networks are doing the same. When a big celebrity passes they all jump on it, it brings the viewers in - websites are just as bad and pre-wrote most obituary pieces to get in there first - Big Brother being the unique one having his ex wife in the house and they are going to play it....

I don't know whether anyone saw This Morning, but Rylan explicitly stated that nothing from the diary room would be shown out of respect for David Bowie. I guess the carrot that was dangled was just too tempting for them to resist, and it wouldn't surprise me if they exploit the Angie connection a bit more to grab viewers.

I also agree it's pretty tasteless for them to use it as a promo. There's a massive difference between a broadcaster showing a tribute to a lost celebrity and exploiting someone's personal grief. Whether she gave permission or not is irrelevant.

I don't think Angie milked it - although I personally wouldn't have stayed in the house if my ex died, but I think her reaction seemed genuine shock and sadness mixed with pointing out herself they hadn't seen each other for years

I hope BOTS doesn't make it all maudlin and ruin me actually being nice about their sensitivity now”

Why shouldnt she stay?
She needs to pay the bills..she needs to earn a living.
Just because she was married to a superstar doesnt mean she is beyond having a life of her own.
She did contribute to his early success and was part of his life.
We all weave a story in life.
Hers is playing out for real now on BB.
I dont personally think she didnt know he was dying..but i do think it was a genuine shock when she heard the news.

Yes. When she signed her contract. It was tasteless, disrespectful and for me, very uncomfortable to watch.

Have to agree . Had to switch off . There are certain moments in life you just do not go there, do not exploit . Angie should have been afforded the right to grieve in private . They should have had the decency and morals not to even think of asking for her permission .

Then again we know the creeps producing BB have zero morals and are prepared to stoop to any lengths for the sake of ratings .

That's interesting. I wonder what the deal with Rylan is? Did he genuinely believe that? Is he lying to himself and living in a sort of delusional state to carry on this job which basically involves a lot of exploitation of people.

The might well have lied to him, just as they lied to Emma Willis regarding Deana and Conner.

So that will be big brother milking the death of somebody for all it's worth then. In connivance with someone who leeched off the name of the person she hadn't seen in 40 years. Sickening.

Amazing what money buys when you're a superficial, shallow creature like he is. Channel five bought his loyalty and morals a long time ago when he received his first pay cheque off them. He has a husband to keep in the manner he has grown accustomed to remember.

Doesn't make it right though. Still a tacky segment.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. But how can he seriously believe that? He's living in some sort of fantasy land where BB is a fine upstanding show that would never dream of exploiting anyone for entertainment. I'm guessing he has to lie to himself to carry on without going crazy. One day he'll probably look back on his time on BB and shake his head with regret, because I think he is a good guy really.

He just made me laugh on BOTS "The duty of care on this show is amazing". He really does deserve a BAFTA for saying things like that with a straight face.

Do you know personally she has leeched off him?
Tell us what she has done to leech.

Don't dispute that Angie must have given her consent for the footage to be shown. However, personally I think that using the aftermath of someone's death to try and boost viewing figures is in very bad taste. Just because you can it doesn't mean you should.

She last saw him in person in 1976, 40 years ago yet still used his name all that time. She would never have been invited on this show (or any of the other jobs over 40 years) if her name was just plain old Angela Barnett. She would have been forgotten as soon as the divorce was finalised, which is why she kept the name. Her "job" for 40 years has been all about leeching off the Bowie name - Kerching.
Anyway my thoughts go out to his WIFE, Iman.

I noticed that the 'outraged' thread is beating the 'outraged at people being outraged' thread by a good two pages, so just thought I'd help out with an extra post. Good luck everyone.

Really 1976???
Are you sure about that for a fact or did you just read it on the internet.
Do you think for a second that Iman didnt know he was married before?
Do you think realistically that angie didnt know db was dying.
Do you think she was on bb by chance the week he had an album coming out.
Come on.

The only regret the ch5 producers will have is they didn't think of it......Sven better be sleeping with one eye open for the next couple of weeks.

The permission for anything used in the diary room was given when she signed her contract I doubt very much they asked again after telling her about Davids death off screen.

I agree.

Im glad that she decided to let it air

I dont give a damn about the show at the minute --- its a scripted pantomime anyway, however housemates have emotions, and this one time, true emotion showed

I think the feeling she would have is regret, and wishing that she had said this, or done that, 0r not said, or done, or been able to say bye bye

Im shocked no one has expressed sympathy for poor Iman in the media

I do hope Angela re-bonds with her Son Duncan, for the sake of her future grand children”

It was very sad.

Exactly. They couldn't just ignore it. It is too big to just ignore.. It would have been awkward and weird.

She handled it appropriately in the DR..

Even if she agreed to it.. I still think it lacks any class or consideration for what happened.

But these are extraordinary circumstances, I would be truly surprised if they had not sought Angie's permission to air any footage involving her since David's death every step of the way.

Its her decision. BB can't push it either way tbh they can only offer an exit and support if she wants it.

I wouldn't criticise her decision. In shock/grief people act in the only way they see fit at the time. Whether it is the right decision for her, only she will know eventually. My dad went off the rails when my mum died. Made some very odd decisions in his first year of grief.
