I was "trying" to express my disdain for everything to do with Andrew Cartmel's tenure as script editor, as it so happens, particularly his so-called "masterplan". I don't care if it scores any points or not.

I'm more interested in what Terrance Dicks had in mind when he wrote the story than how Andrew Cartmel chose to interpret it later. I don't like retcons unless they're really fantastically clever and well thought-out, and in this case if Terrance Dicks didn't intend for the Doctor and Rassilon to be acquainted from ages back then I feel it shouldn't be read into the story.
